Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Recruitment agencies recruiting for HON AERO

So has anyone else been getting calls from recruiters wanting you to apply or interview for technician roles at HON AERO Olathe? I have been getting an Over whelming amount of calls from recruiters ever since this RIF process has started asking me to interview for open positions they have in the R&O department with Honeywell. I find it kind of odd that as soon as they start laying off their full time employees there all of a sudden starting to interview and hire contract employees. The starting pay is only $18 an hour for these contract positions and their 6-12 month contracts with the possibility to renew but no transition to full time HON employment.
Are they planning on getting rid of all of us full time people and replacing us with contract workers that they can get rid of at the drop of the hat? As well as pay a h*** of a lot less?
Thoughts would be appreciated!

Yep, lots of activity in the HW contractor segment. Got a few calls about positions... and I'm always like "if this is a Honeywell position I'm already working there... for now."

I've gotten one so far, for an SPS position. I though it was kind of odd as well, being contacted by a recruiter when we don't know if we're going to get RIF'd or not. Heard SPS is not the place to go right now, either.

Replacing everyone with contractors is cheaper and helps stock prices.

I don't think they realize I'm already a Honeywell employee. I also have several friends that are getting calls and messages from recruiters as well asking if they are intrested in a technician position at Honeywell rght now. It doesn't look like they're laying off recruiting it looks like they're stepping it up more. They are saying the job will not start for approximately 1 to 2 months So once again I'm wondering if they're going to lay off all or most of the full time Honeywell employees that are making a lot more money and have things like health plans and 401k and bring on contract employees at much lower prices.

Wouldn’t they have a obligation to bring back the laid off techs first?

They cannot hire you back as a contractor inside the time limit.
If you retire it is possible.. not as a layoff.
