I am over 40 and was part of the Aero RIF last week. Of the dozens and dozens of people I know that got laid off, none were under age 40. What have you seen?
If you, too, received the severance agreement to sign, read it closely. It says, “You acknowledge and certify that you: have been informed in writing...the job titles and ages of all individuals selected for the reduction in force and the ages of all individuals in the same job classification or organizational unit not selected for the reduction in force.”
First, Honeywell has to provide this list by law (reference OWPBA act). Second, you have 45 days to review the list before signing your severance agreement which will waive your right to any wrongdoings by the company.
Review the list for: If the % of employees before the RIF and over age 40 was 60% (as an example) and the % laid off over 40 is 80%, then there are grounds for a class action lawsuit.
