Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Info on how it's done

I was just let go via conference call w/ director and HR. Short script read, and not interactive. Effective today, terminated. Asked to mail my computer and phone to HON, (they pay via provided FedEx acct.#). Not allowed in bldg to gather personal belongings – they will mail to me. Severance of 1wk for every year of service. My one friend of 33 years let go, got 33 weeks, and no goodbyes since we're working from home. HON moved me across the country from the auto industry to take the post here nearly 5 years ago. I am 52 y/o. Just heard of two more in Phoenix, Sr. positions like myself, Band4 +, and another work colleague in Torrance got let go too. It's happening.

My husband RIFFed this week..over 34 years of service supporting customers. High salary, over 55 and years of service. Tough blow to him but it's a relief in a way. HW does not care about their customer and COVID-19 blew everything up.
Time to move on to next chapter.
For remaining employees...watch your back.

It's true! This is exactly how my RIF happened. My boss's boss sent a meeting request with a HR person and I knew exactly what was going to happen because of the heads up here. It helped prepare me emotionally for what was going to happen so thanks! I kept it calm and didn't burn any bridges because unlike some ppl here I actually enjoyed it at HON. I'm a level 3 so it's not just level 4s like the other rumor going around. I wish you guys the best and if you stay then bust your butt so I can get hired back on.

And your severance will not start until you sign and return the severance packages. Honeywell has over 10 Billion cash reserves and yet feels the need to layoff 15%-20% of its workforce to maintain the profit margins. Monday was the start and up they are laying so many they may not be able to recover and meet the customer’s needs. You have to remember, Honeywell is not in this for the customer, not for the country, and definitely not for the employees. Many departments were decimated Monday. New leadership is intent on protecting themselves in the short term even if that comes at the cost of the company in the long term. Honeywell cannot see past 3-5 years, they have no longer term vision and since the decisions are made by those who live off their bonusses (Band 5 and up make ore in bonuses than they do in salary, but they only committed to take a small hit in salary).

Yes the severance is generally capped at 26 weeks, but there are several exclusions that I know of. If you are working under a union collective bargaining agreement it may be different. If you are working in Canada it is different. I personally know of an engineer that was laid off at Honeywell Prince Edward Island about five years ago that received almost a year of severance.

Most of the aerospace and defence industry is removing anyone over even 40 these days. The objective is to create a malleable and low-cost workforce unfortunately. You see a lot of the "child manager" syndrome these days - generally obnoxious toadies of the senior execs eager to act as their eyes and ears.

Aww you're over 50 - You fit the profile. Offered you a relocation package and then showed you the door. Build your linked in profile with no more than 20 years of background. Reach out to all your contacts that you are seeking new challenges!

HON is a t–d.
