I volunteered after almost 30 years and was turned down. Phoenix division. Some of those who were "walked out" were huge contributors and will be missed. I agree with whoever said no rhyme or reason with who was selected.
Three highly regarded engineers (old timers) let go from my area in Aero. I presume they volunteered, as they were probably pretty close to retiring anyway. But huge loss of knowledge.
Your boss could be put you on a PIP and then terminate you without cause. That way your eligible for severance and your boss can backfill your position immediately.
I put in for the voluntary, but was turned down. I was told they could not backfill my position for 12 months. My question is could there be a chance that I could be on the list for involuntary RIF? Do not know if there are different rules around self nomination vs. involuntary RIF. I have seen some departments RIF people and then consolidate positions adding more workload.
Yes I agree. As usual honeyhell will do only what's good for them and screw the employees. I am in the same boat. Avg review. No raise and a 2 week pay cut (furlough)
I know of two senior/staff engineers that put in for it and got it. But not the 20 year employee peeeeon

Kind of s—s, too valuable to let go, but not valuable enough to get a raise or even have my full pay this year. (Two weeks of furlough already). Figured we could save someone's job that really needs it, but I guess not.
Backfilling your position is a joke. Slight change in description. Title change. Anything different. Off paper they'll replace you as needed if they want to. At 35% the price.
You can not backfill the position for a year if you are selected. Depending on your position is the reason why you not selected as it’s a needed role.
I know quite a few put in here at Sky Harbor, I have only heard of 3 being accepted.
