Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Thanks for gong on Furlough you're now RIFd

  1. T. F. Did the furlough last week for PMT. Today my boss calls and I'm all done. It's ok I'm young and will find something but others in my team are not. This has been an education. What a c-appy way to treat people. Only good thing is I hit my stimulus check.

It may be better to get riffed if you can collect the stimulus unemployment while collecting severance. AZ does not allow state unemployment while getting severance, but I'm not sure about the federal assistance.

I hope I get RIF. I could be okay on the extra 800 for unemployment for 39 weeks especially after just seeing email about preparing to return to a workplace where people have tested positive for virus.

Sorry to hear that this happened.
PMT (especially HPS and UOP) are going to be hurting for a while. Same with Aero. SPS is probably going to be booming ... not sure about HBT ... in the 2008 recession some of the businesses went with across the board 10% salary reductions instead of RIFs ... wish they would do that instead of just RIfs immediately. Save a few jobs.

I know some people here may not like salary reduction (I’ve seen comments about 10% or 20%) and would prefer to get RIFed themselves.... that’s fine for you but for me I’d rather have a salary cut and still have somewhat of a paycheck. If you’d prefer RIF then raise your hand and tell your boss. I’m sure they’ll be looking for volunteers.

Sorry to hear this. Good luck - I hope that this terrible time ends soon. I think that many, many companies are in the same situation.

I am sorry to hear of this. It’s sad hearing anyone being let go from there job. You will find something! Just try to stay positive and apply to as many jobs as you can! I’m really disappointed in Honeywell and that they have chosen to take billions in loans from the government, cut people’s pay by 50%, then lead to permanent layoffs. These government loans will be used for stock buybacks and to add to their already huge $9 billion dollar cash pile they are sitting on. These actions will further reverberate through the Honeywell fabric, specifically, possible reduction or full elimination of the 401k match, wellness fees skyrocketing, and lastly, health benefits will probably become more expensive. If it is a burden on Honeywell, they make the workers take the hit. If you don’t invest in people, you mind as well throw the towel in. It’s only a matter of time.

Sorry to hear this. I am in Aero and was wondering if RIFs would wait until after the 2nd furlough week. Guess they can start at any time.
Best of luck.
