First want say sorry to folks that got permanent laid off
Second I don't get the purpose of going from temp to permanent. Once this dies down your going to have to have staff.

If all the companies find this as a way to layoff highly paid senior workers, more of them will go bankrupt due to lack of experience, and more elderly people will die due to unemployment than a pandemic. Remember, who ever is young now will become old at some point in time.
Now they will get federal money and can't layoff more due to the regulations to get assistance. That's the real reason for permanent layoff before they asked federal govt money.
Some laid off workers have been signed up for free or reduced Medicaid as temporary health coverage.
Yes we know the people they kept,sure wasn't us darkies,well that shows you how this company feels about you people in sales,some one said lucky people they will call when this is over,yea we know who those people are,not lucky but what has been going on for years
You people are stupid,you people always think it's about age,no matter what age they are they are out of work,but you act like you're so smart,but dumb pigment government shut down people without a plan,nor having a plan in the future,or having a back up plan, dummies should of already had a plan before they shut down,my pretty sister worked here for years she was young ,yes get rid of all the people,they won't have workers like these , the ones they laid off, dummies, it doesn't matter the age,like they say only old people get this disease, that's a lie,virus is not racist or looking for a age to attack, you're saying it's better that these people was being laid off for good?was you there seeing how they worked? Makes me sick,no wonder the world is messed up,these people in crisis and you say it's better they were fired for a new crew to come in? These people was faithful,and they are out of work, it's not your time for criticism or your stupid sarcasm,or hearing how old they are,they need younger people,no body wants to hear this mess,they need experience people that knows how to make the company get more customers, these people are trained,and skilled,they know the policy,and what it takes,not face or age, nobody wants to be called old,they are not old people,but experience and season people,the salt of the earth,yes it's sad,many people are using this plague,to raise prices,fire people,making jokes, but you all will rise up and find a better job at another airport,I hope not for herzt ,but booking flights,and cleaning the planes,or baggage,you will rise up,maybe all these cold hearted people on here saying it's a good thing,maybe you'll take their jobs, you will rise again,
If they brought back all of us overpaid non-productive senior workers, then they would be right back in the same situation ... paying top dollar for very little work getting done. They probably want to start fresh with new employees. Can’t say I blame ‘em. I was about ready to retire anyway, this just pushes my schedule up a bit. Best of Luck Hertz, it’s been quite a ride.
Some of the furloughs were extended while others were permanently laid off. Some of the "lucky" ppl may be back, if they stick it out
The company is so cheap and care nothing for their employees. They are happy to take away health care from thousands of staff during the middle of a health crisis and pandemic. It's completely immoral. They are offering severance to those laid off only to protect themselves from lawsuits. Not to help people. Since in order to receive the severance pay you have to sign a document taking away your right to take part in any future lawsuits. So if you get the virus and have medical bills or pass away from not having medical coverage you are out of luck.
The company has been blowing through cash for years on poorly managed IT programs and this had led to funding operation by borrowing. The the Pandemic at a time when Hertz was already cash constrained, This way they can get rid of employees and when needed replace with younger less expensive people.
agree, but have found that most companies do not value loyalty or experience....they'd rather get recent college grads and pay them next to nothing. they have a history of doing this (saying they are going to adapt, get lean, and then adding more and more managers to create more corporate red tape)
I was laid off today and I feel this is stupid to do when things turn around they will need people to work. I feel they are using this pandemic to get rid of people.
Ya I was with this company for 15 years and they laid me off .. whack and no info sent from HR as discussed on the phone ..severance is at least something they will give .. makes no sense tho ., pay weekly instead of furloughing
