I get plenty of work done without spending the day emailing. If I didn’t get my work done schedules would not be met. So there’s that.

I know plenty if people that email all day and get nothing done. If you job is to shuffle emails around, it sounds easy to outsource.

The rif list already exists. Dont blame the director who put you on the list. They already decided to take a package and go. Tried and true way to avoid labor lawsuits is to layoff everyone involved in creating the list.

Not everyone spends all day emailing. How could that be a valid indicator of who is or isn't working?

The RIF list already exists and is always ready for use, no need to run a report. They'll start with the voluntary folks followed by those in the elbow. After that its a mix of older more expensive employees (pension liabilities) followed younger less tenured employees who are not essential to retain usually based on where the demand is. Or maybe we continue with furloughs for the rest of the year?
