Ok.. Field Fire Claim Reps were told today that they are “essential”.. which means, they still want them to go to nasty houses and do face to face. They are not getting any extra pay to do this. They are putting their lives at risk and their families just so State Farm can say, “they are their for the customer!” And make them look good! Meanwhile, you have in office “essential” employees sitting in a supposedly sanitized office, with social distancing and getting overtime pay?? Really??

Face it, you're a second-rate never-will-be stuck mewling blindly at the teat of the bloated and decaying corpse of your grandfather's insurance company. I follow to keep an eye on just how badly you and the other remnants that no one else wants are screwing up the long term viability of my pension. Let me spell it out for you, employee satisfaction is a telling indicator of the health of a company. Clearly, State Farm is well positioned to maintain its strength and market share. /s

I left State Farm and now lead fire field operations for three states for a large competitor. We discussed and pulled our field reps out of the field. We can leverage technology to bridge the gap for most losses and still meet our obligations. Insureds understand, are more than willing to work with our reps in new or different ways, and many have professed that they are relieved we don't need to come out. Endangering my handlers, and our insureds, by in any way potentially contributing to the spread, was a non-starter. Stating that "this is what you signed up for," is both ignorant and devalues the lives of all involved. State Farm long ago stopped showing loyalty or thankfulness to their employees, don't reward their ineptitude and callousness with your health and wellbeing.
Wondering why we should expect extra pay for doing our base job? It makes sense on CAT duty since you’re eating out all the time, and working crazy hours. But showing up to do the basic job you’re hired for? Not so much.
Most nurses can only dream of making the salary and benefits of a tenured fire claim rep. You are an embarrassment at multiple levels. Not to mention condescending.

Well, paying claims is actually the whole point of being an insurance company. No matter how we handle COVID-19, we will cease to exist if we stop handling claims. So maybe you should consider that.
