Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Return to the office-HON tone deaf

Anyone else hear MM say in the aero townhall last week that an employee expressing discomfort with returning to the office due to COVID would not be considered an acceptable excuse? Also in the same meeting, children being home would also be an unacceptable excuse because “it would soon be summer break and they would be at home or in alternative care anyway.”

Makes you wonder how many hoops they will make employees jump through to continue wfh when we are “welcomed” back to the office. Get your doctor notes and attorney’s number ready!

it's all about control. DA cracks the whip, you go back to your office even if pandemic is still not under control. He just 'hates' WFH. Meawhile, amazon, facebook twitter, microsoft CEO's allowing WFH for their employees indefinitely or at least till when pandamic is in control. You don't like it? Go find another job. Nobody among DA minions dare reason with him and say employees will be more productive, happier, safer if you allow WFH. Everyone is a Yes Sir!

@1owj

You can do your own fact check on Covid impact on deaths.

Compare monthly totals for this year and compare monthly totals to previous years.

Let me know what you find.

I found that staying at home is very dangerous. Deaths have really spiked with this world wide stay home orders.

@jrp

I’m not following at all.

You’ll get the same work either way but they need to be in the office w potential Covid cases.

You must expand what you’re thinking and not writing.

I work for a company that is planning a phase in of people starting w volunteers.

The only Honeywell thought going into this is how to threaten people to unnecessarily get back in.

Every other death ends up being counted as COVID-19 caused because Medicare pays hospitals more ($13,000/case) if reported they reported this way. So how many of those who simply had anti-bodies present (like a significant percentage of population currently ) actually died from COVID and not heart attacks, cancer or strokes is an important question. Likely deaths from this are significantly lower (like even less than seasonal flu)

@jwq – Wrong, ~61% of COVID-19 fatalities are 75 or older. And your inhumanity is showing. Maybe your perspective will change after the death of an older person you care about. Or maybe you're too far gone to care.

They should put the time, effort, and money into making sure that the environment for people who actually have to be at a location, or safe, and that people feel as comfortable as possible. People that can work from home, should continue to do so. Pushing people to cram back into offices when it’s not necessary and they’re uncomfortable is not the behavior of a top-tier employer. Oops. I guess that last comment explains it all

@jrp, with almost 90,000 dead in the US, I would hardly call that “making it work.”

if that was said, that's extremely faulty logic, given there are not camps, etc (not to mention vaccines or therapies) to take advantage of (in my neck of the woods).

OP: Many of us are hands on shop workers, with children, that cannot WFH and are making it work. It is happening like this all over the world. Get over yourself.
