National Network Technicians offered early retirement Package

National Network Long haul legacy QWEST techs offered early retirement package . Some of these lead techs have been with the company since the very beginning and have invaluable technical expertise especially in record keeping where multiple fiber splices are involved from Fiber distribution panels , Co locate to Co locate , hand hole to handhole , cross splices from fiber number to different fiber number . From outside plant to Central office trouble shooting , when these guys go they will probably take their Knowledge and records with them . they have seen it From SONET to IP Overdirect , SONET over IP,to IP switching, Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) , LEVEL 3 will stumble and fall all over themselves when these LEAD TECHNICIANS are let go. good luck with that . Level 3 thinks they make too much .

Yes. They still classify the legacy Qwest people as management but only to define them as non union and for payroll classifications.

Also, regarding records? Well, let’s just say that everything that was in my filing cabinets and my personal office, was shredded. I left nothing for records. My coworkers have called to ask questions and I am selective with what I share and with whom. For me,
The company is like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory at the end... You get nothing! I know a lot of assets just disappeared with this last round.

After I left I had two different managers call me and ask me if I would show the contractors how to do my job in the underground... LOL and hung up on them. From what I found out someone gave in and showed them how it's done, I say let them sink.

They key here is, there are local managers here who know who knows what and how screwed they would be if certain National techs left. I personally put in and was flat told by my manager if he had any say in it, that he would not let me go. But, it would ultimately be up to the regional VP. I think they realize there are key players here that they don't want to lose.

As someone else pointed out, there is a lot of knowledge in some of these guys heads that is not on paper as far as records are concerned, and we have had guys leave with their records because they wrote them in their own books.

Not really. Management and occupational is US West's brain dead division. CTL has hourly and salaried, supervisory and individual contributor, represented and non-represented with four different groupings of each. A tech is a tech as far as the company is concerned.

Do they still call legacy Qwest tech's management?

They’re too busy looking at the next move. Buy someone else, sell it all or let it bankrupt.

Tech’s are only a number to CTL, they don’t care about tech’s or customers.
