Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk’s newest scam for employees

The new “one belk” is a complete scam. They want sales associates to do the jobs of receiving, housekeeping, visual, merchandising, loss prevention, you name it... without pay...or in some cases they lower people’s pay, this is a new low for sycamore partners and belk.

Yep, and I'm glad I got out of that weirdness, oppression and misery. I hope others may be as fortunate as I was to be able to walk away.

“The weirdness” as you call it started when belk started hiring managers that had been fired from Macy’s.

Belk has promoted people to manager who have not graduated high school, or some that just have a G.E.D.

The weirdness pre-dates the Covid-19 outbreak. An anecdote regarding Loss Prevention, now called Asset Protection:

Our Loss Prevention manager became a regional LP manager, and left our store. A few personnel changes later, and he was invited back to our store to manage there and still be regional. Well, what they did was promote a new kid over him to regional, demoted our guy to associate, and THEN insisted that he TRAIN the NEW regional. Does that make sense?!

Didn't to me either.

Wow, this is worse than target or wal mart, atleast they have designated departments. how does belk think people will wanna for there? I applied at belk but they only wanted to pay $12, when Wal Mart started at $14

Belk also has not extended their leases on a number of stores.

I have said this before, Toys R US implemented this about a year before they went bankrupt, they had $8 an hour cashiers on a hot truck taking out freight, then everyone quit and the stores had almost no staff

I think they had it planned for months, this is what companies do when they are in serious financial trouble, kind of a last effort to cut costs.

Did this just roll out because of covid-19?
