ANNISTON CLOSING

Sorry for the folks in Anniston.
Many didn't think this would happen but the move to Tempe is now official. Best of luck to all.

Everyone in Anniston knew this from the top to the bottom, No surprise. Happy that almost all have moved on to better opportunities!

So far Tempe has made space for the additional workers and test equipment, that's it. As far as any other preparations we are completely unprepared. No hiring has taken place yet but we were told 150 people would be hired in stages. It takes a good six months just to train a good technician due to the numerous amount of outlines they are expected build/test. I think the ALT over estimated how many people from Anniston would be willing to relocate or we are going to get a lot of help from the slowdown in demand from the airlines. Regardless, like all other transitions done in the past, it will be a mismanaged disaster and ultimately create more problems, more backlog, and more defects. It will take years before there are any real cost savings.

Is Tempe prepared to take on the extra R&O production? If 400 a week is a stretch for Tempe I can’t imagine how they’re going to feel with their expected shipments of well over 1000. Good luck.

Most of the closures do not make sense from a leased vs owned or a revenue perspective. Look at Greer R&O, it was owned. Look at Wichita, Honeywell had built that building in 2005 and owned the building. The CEO has stated he wants a 50% rooftop reduction, so it’s up to each SBG to make that happen. They look at all rooftops and try to understand the % utilization, then understand where it makes sense to create a “hub”. A lot of sites have been on the list to close and then dropped off for some reason or another. The majority of the Aero closures so far have been repair stations. From a revenue and FAA repair station certification, it didn’t make sense to close Anniston but again, that’s not in their equation.

Where will the Torrance work be moved to? Where will the Tulsa work be moved to?

The comments about Tulsa don't make sense. Honeywell owns the facility - it's not a lease. Plus, it's considered a low-cost growth site. Closing Torrance makes sense... Honeywell does not own that site. It is a lease, and cost of operations in California is crazy high.

What are people in denial over there? You were warned months in advance

It’s only a matter of time now before Tulsa and Torrance are announced. Maybe as early as next week for at least one of them?

So they finally announced it. Sorry to the folks there in Anniston. That’s terrible.

If you work in Tulsa, start looking elsewhere. That site will be next.

Considering how poorly Tempe processes units out of gate 1 and 3 as compared to Anniston, this transition is going to be hilarious

If Anniston had been staffed like Tempe and Tempe would come off the parts Anniston needs the story would be totally different...

Anniston show tempe how it’s done? Tempe is the OEM for all of Anniston’s overhaul work. And Tempe is half overhaul shops. Good for tempe

I guess the roof collapsing in Anniston didn't count as a "rooftop reduction" to dairyass?

The biggest problem in Anniston is there is no comparable place to try and get a job. Huntsville or Mobile are the closest places. Some will try to move to Tempe and show them how it is done.

A lot of people will be out of work. There’s nothing good about that. Everyone knows Honeyhell won’t give a decent severance package. Some people have been there for over 30 years and are months away from retiring. Sad for them. For myself, I feel relieved. Honeywell is the worst place I’ve ever worked. Pay was good but treatment was horrible. I’m looking forward to getting on with my life.

I’m surprised Honeywell has an r&o or production yet for aircraft valves engines starters and actuators. The new direction of “ software “ seems to be directly opposite. Guess it’s a matter of time.

Honeyturd stikes again. Never did pay the workers in Anniston decent wages. Now they will have to charge the airlines more just to have the work done in Tempe.

Wow, they took their sweet time announcing this one. Tempe has been ready for some time now. Wish all of the folks at Anniston well but hopefully, given all of the warnings that this was coming, they have prepared.

Ah so that's what all the new manufacturing space in Tempe is for. Who could have seen this coming?
