Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Will Allstaters face layoffs if this continues?

How long would the lockdown need to last before the company’s forced to start letting people go?

Same. It was announced to legal today and will be announced to everyone tomorrow. It’s not covid related, they just decided not to put plans on hold because of covid. This plan has been in the works for a year and layoffs have been mentioned since December. They say the company is profitable but sliding behind competitors so they want to trim the fat to increase that profit margin and hopefully rise back to #2. We are currently in 4th. They said there will be packaged but the units to be hit or the number of layoffs is unknown. CEO is unlikely to offer any more significant insight tomorrow beyond that it is happening. The “transformative growth” you’ve been hearing about? That’s what this is.

In our property office, we have been told not to fill open positions with people outside of Allstate, and to instead bring auto employees over. Seems like they will be cutting staff soon. If anyone in auto is interested, ask about the virtual water or virtual wind/hail property teams. Virtual claim handling is the way of Allstate's future it seems.

A friend in another office advised that they are having field techs work the total loss salvage list and chase titles among other tasks. He told me that they are not taking layoffs yet it is status quo and finding work for them in other areas that need assistance.

If you’re a field auto adjuster get ready to turn in your gear. Apply for another job or hope you’re one of the few they keep to work virtually.

Technology is dictating staffing . The Virtual app means less field adjusters .

When they decide that you are no longer required, can be replaced by cheaper labor, make your job now part of someone else's job, and consolidate your job to another location which is like everyday lockdown or not
