Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

This Friday and next week will be the largest layoffs

This Friday and next week will be the largest layoffs. They like to lay people off early in the month so they have medical insurance till the end of that month. As a former director, I know. They get the list on names together, submit it to local HR, they send it to corporate for approval then back to the managers for execution. If you get cut look at it as an opportunity to leave a toxic company. There is life and a good one after NOV. I know, I’ve never been happier.

Bumped from @3lsw+14DkxEgg for info.

I was laid off a few years ago because, according to my management, I "wasn't in agreement with the direction the company was going". Sure it stung a bit, but now looking back it was the best thing that ever happened to me in spite of the great salary and bonuses that I left behind. My message to everyone still there is that there is life after NOV and being true to yourself greatly outweighs any compensation you may have received. I still have good friends there, and it saddens me to see their spirit defeated and they have changed into the walking dead as they observe their leaders dragging this company into a deep hole. They were once highly productive and excited about what they could accomplish and looked forward to getting to work every day to serve their customers. Those are the people that will eventually be set free to regain their confidence and find their new happy place in the world when this cesspool of a company finally implodes for good!

How are you do sure You don’t even work here anymore. And why do even post here? I’ve been laid off from other places but never felt the need to go on their message board and spread rumors. Get a life.

They are giving an extra 2 months of insurance, so anyone laid off gets coverage to the end of that month plus 2 months after.

@zjt
For the last three weeks, I saw just two people laid off in our facility through those "massive" layoff.
What I wanted to point out was some (or most) articles posted here are not based on credible sources.

So you come to a layoff site and then complain that you're tired of reading about layoffs? Um...ok

New and repetitive articles about layoff are quite fatiguing.
Okay, so we had 'massive' 25% layoff a few weeks ago already, and 'the largest' one is coming this Friday and next week according to this article. Then, what will be next adjective to replace 'massive' and 'the largest'? 'Tremendous' or 'incredible' or 'horrendous'?

I can attest to that. I was let go from the abysmal cedar park facility and life has never been better, starting with the moment I walked out those doors.

I have never in my life seen such a horribly run operation as that one. Incompetence, shameless nepotism, and a toxic work environment make for the worst place I have ever worked.
