Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Embraer Deal Dead

I see Boeing pulled the plug on Embraer, who now says they will sue because Boeing is getting out for what Embraer feels are bogus reasons. The reality is that airlines aren't buying regional jets either, nor will they for a long time. The Times article also cited low-cost access to Embraer's engineering for the eventual 797, which is now obviously also dead.

Maybe this will buy some time for Boeing workers, as it saves $4.2B, but in the long run, nobody is buying anything for at least a couple of years, and with single digit 787 production rates, what are we going to build besides P8's, KC46's and the relatively few planes that the airlines have to take and cannot defer or cancel. The AA 787 just delivered out of Everett went straight into storage BTW.

Interesting times for sure.

@aqt+14EBsda2 they don't need to swoop in. They don't need to buy a company with a smaller single aisle. They already have the (former) Bombardier C-series, now the A220. It is the direct competition for the 175 and 195-E2. If they purchased it from Embraer, they would shut it down. That was Boeing's "in" to that market (below the 737).

Best guess though is that they are about to take the gov bailout (after layoffs of course) and they will be barred from acquisitions.

The last thing Boeing should've been doing was trying to merger with Embraer. Wtf was it thinking? They should've stepped back when the Max was first grounded. Now they pull this pansy move out of it. I hope Embraer does sue them and win.
Every week brings a new story if Boeing incompetence. Boeing should be taken over by another company and have the corporate management level completely sh1t-canned.
The Boeing Sh1t-cago clown show continues.

Its hilarious how boeing claims embraer didn't meet conditions to finalize the deal. What a joke like boeing would've merged if they had? Yeah right they can't afford the $4 billion right now everyone knows this. They just put up roadblocks until the deal stalled. What a chicken sh– way to do business. Boeing will say just anything to not accept liability. So much for transparency and honesty

AirBus is in just as much financial trouble. They’re in no shape to buy anything either. Sure they don’t have a Max problem, but nobody wants planes.

Why would that be a smart move? There is no market for these embraer planes

It would be great to by time for the company and employees. We don’t deserve to lose out jobs. But with the world market in shambles, it’s unfortunately not looking good for the future...1 year would be a miracle for someone kind of safe feeling or recovery. But it’s probably gonna be after a vaccine is out and well established in the public so the people can feel safe to travel and Boeing customers can eventually feel safe to accept orders buy our planes again.

It’s an uneasy time for all. Feel greedy hoping I don’t get laid off since some many are hurting.
