I see Boeing pulled the plug on Embraer, who now says they will sue because Boeing is getting out for what Embraer feels are bogus reasons. The reality is that airlines aren't buying regional jets either, nor will they for a long time. The Times article also cited low-cost access to Embraer's engineering for the eventual 797, which is now obviously also dead.
Maybe this will buy some time for Boeing workers, as it saves $4.2B, but in the long run, nobody is buying anything for at least a couple of years, and with single digit 787 production rates, what are we going to build besides P8's, KC46's and the relatively few planes that the airlines have to take and cannot defer or cancel. The AA 787 just delivered out of Everett went straight into storage BTW.
Interesting times for sure.
