Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Furloughs? Next week layoffs?

I'm a contractor, I heard that it was announced no raises but did it mention furloughs? Layoffs? Anyone know if its contractors or employees that generally get the ax first? Next week pink slips?

HON was ready for the "critical infrastructure" argument. That's interesting because it means Corporate thought about it in advance, but didn't think about the coronavirus impact on customers. Customers are cancelling and pushing out orders like crazy so staying open won't help the financials, it will only make them worse. Typical shortsightedness. As for employees on unemployment, HON fixed that long ago by making sure the HON work week didn't align with the state's unemployment week (at least in Arizona), so that many people couldn't get paid benefits. It keeps HON's unemployment contribution down and screws the little guy.

Can't see how they can justify spending now in fancy ineffective open environment when they just rescinded all pay raises.

Will be hard to close some aero plants after they argue for critical infrastructure status. I expect furloughs in engineering across the board but not production. One week at a time to avoid some state unemployment eligibility rules.. although those conditions are being waived in many states.

Unfortunately you are the “Buffer” being contract. Sorry this is happening and good luck to you and stay healthy.

Contractors will be the first to go because the company can pull the trigger on a same day basis.
In normal times for regular full time employees, there will be some notice of the planned furlough and details.
Same with a RIF where people have the option to volunteer and that process takes a few weeks.
I would be happy to take time off via a furlough, even happier to be riffed.
If I have the chance I will volunteer without hesitation.
But these are not normal times.

You'll be first to go...but first to be brought back, since the regular HON employees laid off will not be offered their old jobs. I see this consistently.

Contractors generally go first. Keep your options open.
