Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I was laid off in CA, Bay Area and did not get a WARN notice. Have there been any others?

Will be terminated as of tomorrow 2/19/2020. Working in Bay Area, CA. I was not given 2 months WARN notice and wanted to see if any others got laid off in the area and whether or not they were provided WARN notice?

Those who are allowed to look for another position internally are the exception. Most times you're out on the same day you get the call and your benefits are terminated. If you decide to pay for COBRA, your coverage is dated from the day after your termination. Employees are simply a bothersome commodity for Oracle. They'd be happier with robots.

I’d like to, but I think it could identify me. Let’s just say that my line of business is now dependent on Cloud applications success. One of may colleagues was let go a few weeks ago.....so I’m anticipating a slow drip-drip until Q4 end at least.

Could you share your line of business?

I got laid off yesterday, with a 2 week grace period to find something internal if possible. I have 25+ years at Oracle and was a manager. My manager told me the Cloud sales/revenues are not materializing as projected, and cuts are necessary. My team is safe for now, but down the road, unless they hit Q4 out of the park, more cuts are coming. When I brought-up WARN, my manager said that the cuts were being handled periodically, no doubt to get around WARN. I’ve been at Oracle so long, I’ve forgotten how to job hunt, interview, etc. I’m not young so a bit worried in this ageist industry (as it’s actually Oracle where old people go to die), but keeping my chin up for now that there is something else/better out there.

It's happening on East Coast as well. I got call from manager yesterday. Said he was not allowed to give me any information other than today is my last day.

There would be WARN notice if it was big(more than 50 in Bay area). As that is not the case, unfortunately for this one two months notice period doesn't apply.

Oracle HR are smart. They try to evade WARN notice by timing layoffs.

I just got an Outlook Mtg. Notice for a meeting with my manager early tomorrow morning. She had let something slip last week that got my spidey senses tingling, so this is not unexpected. It could be that 2/19 will be a big layoff day. I’m in cloud consulting, lower management and 20 years at Oracle.

I was laid off in November 2018, no notice and by a manager that hadn't been at Oracle long. 21 years no notice! Cowards and Unprofessional Management all the way down from LE...

California's WARN Act defines a “mass layoff” as a layoff of 50 or more employees in a 30-day period. The California WARN Act also covers workers who suffer a layoff due to a business stopping or suspending its operations or relocating to a location more than 100 miles away.
