Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Are we having fun yet?

IT rifs continue to happen as our environment gets more and more unstable. "Let's get everybody off Laptops into Wyse terminals cause it's cheaper "

Then the Wyse terminals never work. BRILLIANT!

"Oh boy it is Monday let me log in and get to wo-WRONG OUT SYSTEM IS DOWN!!"

"Okay no issue I'll just call the Service D-WRONG THERES 60 OTHER PEOPLE WAITING INFRONT OF YOU AND THE HOLD TIME IS 40 MINS!"

Yeah. Someone should ask rhe geniuses who think wyse terminals are a good idea are they are going to use them too. Of course not. Hypocrisy is the staus quo here. And eventually this dysfunction will lead to another collapse, this time for good.

I spend more time with system issues and having to call the help desk. This is such an uproductive way to do a job. Such a big company with sooooo many issues in just being able to do your job on a daily basis

I feel for ya. I wouldn't want to work in IT at AIG...especially with this Accenture thing going. But, truth be told, I don't really know how competent the AIG programmers and developers are. Maybe most of the systems I use (in my completely pointless and stupid job) were designed by contractors who have 0 experience in user experience or UI accessibility...but the software here is complete garbage by today's standards.

It's probably a combination of funding, lack of intelligent managerial support, and the fact that enterprise systems, in general, are extremely deprecated...but I think it's just a matter of time before we all get RIFd..and I don't really care =]

You get passive aggressively pushed to the side if you're too productive and dragged into "sitdowns" with your manager if you're not productive enough
