Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

HPD results/reactions. Share SBG, job band, and dept

  • SPS, Band 4 - Offering Mgmt/Mktg
  • 4 rating (exceeded core behaviors + met results)
  • Results: 2.2% merit increase and effective date delayed to July, 70% achievement of 15% MIP (bonus) target

I was very disappointed that my raise was BELOW inflation and my boss basically said that I was overpaid anyway and to be grateful for my results which were allegedly “better than what other people got.” I also worked my @** off in 2019 and was told I exceeded expectations but was not rated a 2 because I needed to be on bigger projects (that happen to not be in my job scope). Also the business didn’t have a good year blah blah blah. Is this the “upside” of being a good employee at Honeywell? Because if so, I would rather be an average employee, have a better work life balance, and be just as disappointed in my annual comp.

Any others care to share their results and experiences with HPD this year?

Aero B4. Twenty years of 1,2,4,5. Put in 6 this year. Zero negative feedback over the last year. Reasoning sounded like a popularity contest in a Seinfeld episode. "She doesn't like you." No regard for the work I did to "go beyond" to make up for their planning mistakes, drive new initiatives. My previous leaders knew what I accomplished, stood up for me, reciprocated. This year sounded like a high school clicque deciding who is the coolest. Simply disgusting. After two decades of bravo awards, kudos and thanks. And no, I'm not going through "the change" or anything like that. Despite being female, I'm an older white American below VP level, so I shouldn't be suprised.

The 9 block is the Honeywell "legal" way to get rid of undesirable workers - older folks making too much $. Your accepting it in the HPD system means you agree with everything written; even if your boss says don't worry about it. When push comes to shove they pull these back out. Only a certain % can be in upper elbow means a lot of your review score has nothing to do with your work. Those in the upper elbow typically get there by being friends with the boss, on a personal level. Working hard will succeed in getting you more work.

The 9-blocker thing is a sham, just like the buzzword bingo copy & paste "personal" goals every year. My listed goals had typos in them for a few years and no one noticed!

I also went above and beyond achieving my goals, and got absolutely nothing. When I questioned it, I was told basically that it is all calculated early on. They can "only give out so many upper elbows." So, it's just a way to check the box and say that someone was reviewed. Garbage. I learned there's no reason to try and do more than you really need to, because it doesn't get anyone anywhere unless (maybe) they kiss the right rear ends.

For many years now, the merit pool has been near or below the inflation rate. That means for someone to get above inflation, others have to get less. What really gets me is the gaslighting, their trying to convince employees that they’re really getting more when it’s less. Would Hon serve a market that returned less and less each year? Why should employees?

You must be really new to Honeywell.

You should check this site to see the frequency of postings before applying to a company.

Inflation rate in 2020 is 2.73%. If your raise was less than that percentage, you lost money. If your raise was more than the inflation rate, you have increased spending power. My raise was .02% above that, so my effective raise was $19. That's the difference between 2.75% and 2.73%.

That's pretty good when you think about it. That's about $1.53 per month before taxes. After taxes it's roughly 50 cents per check after it's all said and done. If I save my raise for a whole month i.could almost buy a soda from one of the machines! Man, what a nice reward from countless hours of unpaid overtime, weekends wasted working, and the extra effort needed to achieve unrealistic AOP targets. Mark my words, Mke Mdsen, I will NOT be making the same mistakes in 2020 I made in 2019. I'll be working just hard enough to not get fired while I look for something else.

Positive review

For those of you that have years before you retire, a little advice, my experience after 30 long years is that you are far more likely to get a bigger piece of the pie if you play golf with the managers who all sit together and decide who gets what at review time. Unfortunately, it is less important to be a high performing talented employee and more important to be connected with those who have influence over you. Basically you need to become an a– kisser. It is less of what you know, and more of who you blow.
Glad to be retiring next January.

What was the inflation rate? I'm sure I was below it. Haven't seen a decent merit raise in 6 years.

HR data mining scheme. Don’t go full Gabe when they claw back your MIP.

My raise was the inflation rate in 2020

Thanks for the sweet reward for all the hard work in 2019, HON! I won't be making that mistake again.

SPS, says it all. Aero was the winning group this year and took home the big MIP bucks, unless that Aero group was called out for a BS metric.
