Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What employee data can Intel divulge to new employers?

If you're going to another company and they're going through a background check, what can Intel legally tell the other company?

Can they specify the reason you left? Whether it was firing, laid off, or employee left on own volition?

Can they tell others what your job grade and previous salary was?

I was under the impression if contacted by HR of another company, Intel could only reveal that "yes, person X worked here during these dates" and that's it. Reading online though, it seems like it's not illegal for a company to state your previous salary in some states.

They should be able to verify your job title and service dates. Anything more than that is violation of policy. Of course that they can't disclose reasons why you left the company as that is arbitrary even if some managers decided that you have violated policy it's still just some internal policy and it should not be disclosed especially as we know how biased Intel investigations are etc. They don't disclose that also as it makes ground for lawsuits. You can always call Intel job verification service and check for yourself if you are based in USA.

Been there, done that - I was laid off few years ago. What Intel divulged to my new company was - dates of service, position, paygrade (!), and that the "termination of service" was not due to "code violation", I think that was the term. Unemployment office told me that it's a standard lingo to make me eligible for unemployment benefits, nothing more. My new recruiting/HR was not able to get anything more than that either. I still got hired ...

You have to show previous tax returns and/or pay-stubs to a new employer.
