This is how NS starts using their furloughed employees as temporary employees. They will call you back for a couple days or weeks until the work is caught up and then lay you off again. The employees that are able to keep their seniority doing this usually have a business of their own. They have their own lawn care service, automotive shop, or some type of work where they can stop and return to work at NS when they are called back. It makes it difficult to find and work in a full-time job. I know because I worked for NS years ago and went through this same situation.

it’s sad that them adding a few seasonal jobs back is all there is to look forward to and enough to get the people excited. But don’t get TOO excited...for every position added there’s at least one cut somewhere else i.e. the consolidation of the extra lists, whacking off the rousters, etc. at the end of the day it’ll be a wash at best
