Departments are also demanding that you have to make up your “unlimited vacation” as unpaid overtime.
Honeywell as usual trying to pinch every penny thru some form of creative accounting always at the employee's expense. Employee engagement...
This is new for non- exempt employees. Came out in Minnesota right before Christmas. Accure 1hr sick for every 30 hrs worked.
So, should I get sick or have to say, go to a Dr’s appointment (none of mine have appointments after 3 PM) I have to use vacations days?? This non - exempt admin type does not have “Unlimited” (LOL) vacation so my 10 days could wither away pretty quickly with a bout of the flu. Great Place to Work.
Are the 56 carry-over hours still available?
Or does "carry-over" no longer exist?
Sick time should pay out if not used. Many randomly use it or lose it, as they should. The environment justifies any Mental Health day you ever want to take. Sit at home, go catch a fish, or just be left alone. Recover from the grind. You could also work on your resume, apply for jobs and go to interviews. Strive to better yourself and shape YOUR future.
@3siy I agree with you. I know there are some years we may need more sick days than others. But I think the problem here is that some folks use these regularly as a small bank of personal days, and count on using them up all year, rather than a buffer of time for real medical/personal issues. JMHO
@1lct
'Try not to carry more than 8 hrs over each year'
That is the most ignorant statement I have read here. Why would you not carry the max that you possibly can? We can carry 56hrs over. So thats, 112hrs /14 days you have when you really need it.
Nobody can get sick until mid Feb. Wow. That could be a record even for Honeywell.
We will just come to the office while sick to spread it around, shake as many as hands as possible, touch as many door handles as possible. And don't forget to visit HR, so they can set the example for the rest of us to work while sick
must work 6weeks for every day you are sick.
coughcough*
Perhaps Honeyhell should make an attempt to apply its "Behaviors" to the employees, as it wants us to apply them to our jobs.
Greenhouse pissing money away for failed Coatings center employees treated as OT slaves
Accrual is common in other companies, but most of them start you off with a bank of about 20 days. Then you accrue more throughout the year, and then cap the roll over. With Honeywell's policies, if one is going to be sick 3-4 days, many may elect to stay out 6 days and use short term.
@1lwu: Intel was not chasing you and checking on you; you could work from home, and come and go as you please as long as you deliver results...
How can you expect to get the most from employees when you constantly work towards giving them the least?
Honeywell’s relentless and continuous war on employees!
Keep leaving until they are forced to reverse course.
1ntm; Nope not just AZ we got email here in IL too. Looks like we are going be like China where we all be wearing Mask so don't get sick way germs goes around in the offices and in the Pilot plants. Or people be keeling over at work being sick since no time for sick time. PSH UNREAL
Honeywell already exceeded the AZ law requirements. This puts HON in _minimal_ compliance. The minimum wage is irrelevant.
This applies only to AZ?
Who said anything about a smoking ban?
You can thank the citizens of Arizona for voting in a $12 minimum wage + a mandatory sick time accrual policy (30 for 1) into law. Aero decided to adjust the policy to be in compliance with the AZ state law. You need to get your head out of the Honeywell sand and look around in the outside world every once in a while.
Who takes sick time? How does that work with the unlimited vacation policy?
Wow. Just wow. A long way from the old days when you took sick leave when you were sick, and it was up to the front door new managers to address anyone who appeared to be taking advantage. I assume that sick leave has no cash value when leaving? Glad I’m out.
1yfg - It was like this working for Intel in the mid 1990's. Personal Allotted Absence time and Vacation accrued at an hourly worked rate for both salary and hourly personnel. If you didn't work, it didn't accrue!
Glad I am out of Honeywell and Resideo.
What a load of bs. They just keep on adding reasons to make us leave.
Industry standards? ..... someone show me .
in other words sick time must be earned . It is no longer a benefit.
God, I'm glad I'm out.
Bean counters counting the crumbs now
You know a heads up would have been nice! I've been using up my sick days over the last few months. I try not to carry over more than 8 hours. Now I'll start the year off with 1 day of sick time left. But there are a lot of my co-workers that have nothing left...because it's the end of the year. Now I get the privilege of working next to them if they get sick in Jan/Feb next year. It's just going to be fantastic earning 1.25 hours every week; earning time off just like the employees at Walmart do.
Good to know I’m not allowed to be sick until the end of February now. Luckily nobody will be sick now that they are doing a campus wide smoking ban. Good looking out for your employees Honeywell. Thank you for saving us from ourselves!
Working hard on employee engagement!
Get out if you can!
"Unless required by law."
Benefits so poor they are breaking the law in some locations!!!🤣 Way to go above and beyond Honeywell!
It was probably done to manipulate the accounting records at the end of the year. MM must need another "special."
So where is the spin on this bone? Certainly this is better than the old policy, kind of like the 401k match was better to get at year end. This place bites a$$.
The future of honeywell aka Coatings center is failing to expect lay offs
we got the email today
Dear Aerospace Colleague:
Effective January 1, 2020, the U.S. non-exempt sick leave policy* will be updated to align with industry standards.
Here is a summary of the new policy:
• Covered employees will accrue one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per calendar year, unless a greater amount is required by law.
• All hours recorded as worked will be taken into account for accruing paid sick time.
• Paid sick time will not be accrued during a leave of absence (whether paid or unpaid), unless required by law.
Does overtime contribute to the 30 hours.
Where did you see this
