New work week

Finland's Prime Minister has sparked enthusiasm in her country by announcing plans to introduce a four-day week and a reduction of the workday to six hours.

Sanna Marin, the 34-year-old social democrat in charge of a coalition of five parties, wants much shorter working hours so that people can spend more time with their families.

"A four-day workweek, a six-hour workday. Why couldn't it be the next step?" she proposed in a speech.

"Is eight hours really the ultimate truth? I believe people deserve to spend more time with their families, loved ones, hobbies and other aspects of life, such as culture. This could be the next step for us in working life."

That’s all I worked anyway, 4 days and six hours per. The remainder was spent walking around shooting the breeze

I think HW would have no problems with the 24 hour work week for salaried exempt employees. They would pay you for 24 hours and then tell you that you need to work the other 16 hours for free if you don't want to be on the layoff list.

If you think Honeywell will ever implement a 6 hour a day, 4 days a week work schedule,/culture in our 24/7 global region culture, you are dreaming. More like that would be the amount you get to have for your personal life, including eating, sleeping, etc. if you can’t handle the Honeywell work hours and figure out how to make that work for you, consider moving to Finland, finding another job, or enjoying unemployment. Good luck to you on that.

Oh, and I forgot to add that everyone I worked with got fat (or fatter) and had chronic stress health issues, as well. A few had heart attacks, and some quit immediately when they felt something coming. I'm sure most marriages were stressed, too. Except for the ones where the spouse WANTS them to stay away.

Just like most corporate jobs, the more competent you were, the more they dumped on you. Then others (ahem) stayed the hours but didn't do a thing. Professional slackers. Twenty smoke breaks a day-types.

In the end, "Our lives went on without us and we weren't there"

I worked a contract job that was 6-7 days a week for 2 years and when it suddenly ended (when they ran out of budget) I had to sleep in for a month just to feel alive, again. I was so chronically exhausted I didn't even know I was exhausted. Except when I sat down at night to relax, then zzzzz.

Not good for anyone, but that's the creem dream of corporate 'merica.

DA likes the 12/6 as a true measure of output: 12 hour a day, 6 days a week in China.

EU labor laws can shift delays to US so NA (excluding Canada) staff can go on conference calls with China and India an extra 4 hours at night so you an stay out of the "elbow." Don't forget to log in on Saturdays to send out a few "go through the motions" emails to a soon to be H1B visa holder "Future Shaper" and submit your forecast Sunday's too before your "platform burns"

After all HIPAC soft money can accelerate to HIB Visa process which you pay for from the list of contributors.

I haven’t worked a full week at honeywell is 20 years at least not since I became a manager. One day a week to write an employee review. By the end of six months everyones review is ready to post. Sometimes I just change the name on a random review from last year and call it a day.

As Finland’s prime minister, 34-year-old Sanna Marin, scanned international news headlines this week, she may have been surprised to learn that she was being credited for looking into the feasibility of a four-day work week.

On Tuesday, Marin’s government put an end to the myth.

The idea of drastically shorter working hours was briefly touched on by Marin in August, months before she was made Finnish prime minister in December. But the government now wants to make clear that a four-day week isn’t on the agenda and “there hasn’t been any recent activity” on the topic, according to a Twitter update on Tuesday.

This would cause billing rates to increase. Good news is that EEI of 1.2 would be 28.8
