At Burlington Resources we had something (crudely) like this before we were acquired (and it was dropped by ConocoPhillips).
Can you imagine how transformational this might have been for us if pursued? Maybe we would not have wasted $10B in exploration? Not have done the APLNG fiasco acquisition/project? There’s always been smart employees, but they’ve not been listened to, while managers take care of, and reward, their friends and own ideas.
It’s What We Do.
I wonder what the dots would say about our leader’s 2018 promise of no more layoffs in February, then breaking this promise 7 months later... or the recent betrayal of long-term employees in the UK.
Speaking of layoffs (which are still occurring, just quietly) this is the one year anniversary of the ELT “downsizing”, which meant two members received 3-year enhanced executive severance packages. I wonder how the “dots” would have rated this hypocrisy?
The most recent employee survey documents our contempt for managers/management. With alternative jobs out there now, at an almost guaranteed immediate salary increase for most folks, we’re starting to see an exodus. The value lost in employee productivity from horrific managing can be estimated in the billions annually.
Meanwhile EOI is still being used as a tool to hurt disloyal employees... ask our CFO.
There’s two branches here: we are bought out and most of us are fired, or we change.
