Have you heard anything about potential Allstate Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

I just came over in the National General takeover. What is an assessment and was any severance pay given?
It is totally impossible to get to the HR department been trying for 4 days since last week! How are you going to send severance and last paycheck and not send a copy of the paystubs?
I was let go effective 11/28. Still no severance received. Calls and emails regarding any ETA for the checks were not responded to. The "good hands" people. (Unless you worked for them!!)
Possibly beginning 2008 for certain 2015 - 2019 including NO Pay Raises Allstate Houston MCO ordered Processors to work Saturdays to contact customers for accident details then email Adjuster Team Leads to have Adjuster mark the Task complete. Upon questioning the reason the Processor cannot receive credit for our work, we complete the customer accident details for the Licensed Adjuster and we do not receive any additional pay for Saturday duty. The RCL firmly stated Processors will come in on Saturdays, get the accident details from the customer, email the Licensed Adjuster Team Leads to have the Adjuster Mark the Task complete. It will NOT be on our PDS & we will NOT be paid for it. My Team Lead began to harass me. I was ordered do NOT transfer ANY calls to the Licensed Adjuster, I am to read the claim from the bottom to the top & handle the call. I questioned legalities with my Team Lead & RCL because I am NOT a Licensed Adjuster. I became the Target of Attack severe Harassment, Defamation of Character, Discrimination & nasty Retaliation. Just pure Hell to be a criminal & deceive customers. I accepted Allstate Package offer from Allstate Regional Manager & I have been impacted. Now Allstate is stealing my Earned PTO, Allstate is Retaliating by back dating Timekeeping with Fabrications & stealing that too. I received a Fabricated Paystub & a Bill stating I now owe Allstate money. I was forced to miss my Stepfather funeral & i have Bills due as well. Every impacted employee with Allstate equipment EXCEPT me received boxes with labels & have returned Allstate equipment. I have made numerous requests beginning 11/17/20 it is 12/09/20 I still have NOT received either. Lori Desch will steal money from me for this too the Allsnake way.
Very sad for those who thought they had a career, turns out you were really just a number and you t didn’t matter that your life was devestated
If anyone is interested. AllState is hiring Adjusters and the layoff Adjusters get first dibs. Hahaha true freaking story. They laid off more than they should plus all of the people that quit.
bottom line allstate s—s, They don;t give a c-ap about you. all they care about is their stock price, They don't return calls, DENY DELAY, DEFEND,
I currently work for Direct Auto which is owned by National General which was just bought by Allstate and I was excited to see what Allstate will bring to the table but after reading this it sounds like all they are gonna bring is a layoff notice. So my excitement of working for Allstate has changed to what are they gonna do to us once they take over. I was hoping for a better hourly wage, better commission rates and a company that would pay for our health insurance or at least half of it would be nice. Got me worried now.
“ If Allstate gave a c-ap about their employees they would allow the 60 day notice to be used for education, job search, etc. Instead a scripted layoff and they tell you the best thing you can do is work as normal and help the customer. It’s BS to come to work the next day and have claims piled up”
My son got the boot yesterday, after 20 years. Still waiting to see his SOs fate.
Unfortunately the wrong people were let go. They kept all the women in one department and got rid of the male co workers.
Is there anyone that knows how long it takes to actually receive the severance pay? The documents say up to 60 days after last day of employment. My last day is in December so Merry Christmas. I hope we get it quickly.
I work in Jacksonville, Fl. in claims. They have sent a lot of our jobs to Pune, India and they are continuing to layoff people. Our HR is gone and the chief admin officer for claims just "retired". 3800 people will be laid off in 4th quarter in all of Allstate. I'll be surprised if we are even in Jax by 2022.
I left that company 11 years ago after 20 years of loyal service. I could see the handwriting on the wall. It was a sweatshop; unreachable goals unbelievable workload. Constant pressure to do the job better and faster with fewer people and the unrelenting threat that there was someone waiting in the wings for your job so you better not mess up. Guess what people? There’s life after Allstate; and it’s better.
I work in New Jersey and yes people were laid off. The lay-off affectedeveryone.
You work in New Jersey and no one was affected??? What office do you work in I’d like to know .
Burlington? Wall? Bridgewater?
Which office do you work in?
If Allstate gave a c-ap about their employees they would allow the 60 day notice to be used for education, job search, etc. Instead a scripted layoff and they tell you the best thing you can do is work as normal and help the customer. It’s BS to come to work the next day and have claims piled up.
Reply to the admin thread - I’m an admin and was impacted. Don’t know the numbers - but I do know I was an exceeds employee and won numerous awards. The criteria that was given was complete BS. Maybe it’s a blessing we won’t be there to witness the disaster that’s going to come from this.
Are there any admins out there? I am an admin and was let go. Is it true they cut 70% of admins?
Demand to see your assessment results and the grading system! Its all a sham! Very high performers were let go, they picked and chose how they wanted. The assessment is a huge cover up! Demand better! Demand real transparency!!! Put the company on blast on all social media and tell everyone you know to not buy allstate products or services! They don’t care about its employees or its customers! Just the might dollar that the big bosses get! And its in the millions! Per year!!! Don’t take any of this lying down! Call out all the b—s—!!!
Hello. I am a bodily injury large large adjuster for Esurance. We were first notified last December of the "merge" with Allstate via email. Many of us panicked back then when it came to our jobs but were reassured that we would be ok.
Fast forward to March! Shelter-In-Place began and we were told in office to work from home starting then. After this, numerous emails and virtual town halls were given by Esurance and Allstate about "Transformative Growth" as early as May. By June, Allstate publically announced their would be layoffs.
It is my understanding that layoffs began in June. By mid July or August, we were told to take an assessment. Yesterday, I was told by my senior leader that my position would be terminated in 60 days. Keep in mind just 2 weeks ago, I switched out my Esurance equipment for Allstate's and talked to the same person who called me to tell me I was laid off.
It's bitter sweet because I was only with the company for a short time. I can tell you though coming from a larger company that is still afloat, we have WAY too many processes and no one is managing our risks. We underwrite for everyone without checking to see who owns a vehicle or driving history. We pay out thousands of dollars a day on claims where there is barely a scratch to the car. We spend money force opening reserves to investigate claims when we KNOW there is no coverage we and rarely deny claims where fraud is indicated. We don't mitigate our damages to conclude so when you mix this with the pandemic and a heck of a CAT season, you get layoffs.
I wish everyone well who survives this merge and these unforeseen times. My files will be dumped on someone who is probably already overwhelmed with work, so I pray for their sanity and strength to endure what is to come. Insurance is NOT a secure industry to work in and it will take a long time to recoup from the losses.Meanwhile, I feel relieved that I now know and I intend to take time to reevaluate my life's purpose and start a new chapter.
Well, I just got the call that I was not selected to be part of the “ transformative growth” Allstate is going through. A lot of people getting the zoom meeting/call this week.
I joined Allstate because we weren't corporate run and our amazing managers really cared, I loved it then. Where did the heart go. Our insureds raved about the service we provided until they started understaffing areas.
Anyone get a email for an All claims call Friday ?
Haven't heard anything.
“Transformative restructuring “ ..,, is that the same as “conscious uncoupling “? IDK but either way it’s over.
10k
Shapiro, Wilson and company talk about "transparency and transformative growth". The only thing clearly "transparent" is their lies. They do not care about any employee. They can mask their care and concern within their web of fancy words, Zoom meetings, e-mails and nonsense, but they are not fooling anyone. They care about stockholder profits. Spoiled rich punks and snobs along with little old ladies who never worked a day in their lives, yet want a return at the expense of people being laid off. Instead of getting rid of good people, get rid of the garbage insureds. We have all seen the one or two year customer who has $20K in claims, "hit and runs", "vandalism" claims, recovered thefts with no police reports; we know who they are. They are the problem and should be cancelled, period. We should not want business from people like them. Dump the bad customers and keep the good employees; it's that simple. I will probably be one of the people laid-off, and I will be glad to go. This company was great 20 years ago, and now is a disgrace. I'm getting a trucker license and getting out of this crazy business.
Allstate is going the route that as a claim owner you are responsible for the whole file like other companies are already doing. I've learned to read an estimate out of necessity.
30 years ago I started with this company and loved going to work every day. For the past three years I saw management come in with more vicious attitude. All of a sudden it wasn’t a family company it was dog eat dog. I miss the old Allstate and the family oriented feeling that you had and where work really mattered. I understand the pandemic and I understand companies needing to do what they need to do, but the lack of consideration and empathy is unacceptable.
Allstate is starting to move more and more work to India. Today they just announced that a lot of virtual inspections are being completed in the India office. Not only will this lead to the firing of many damage adjusters they're piling more work onto the LDU/Casualty adjusters requiring them to call and discuss estimates with customers. These adjusters have no previous auto/body work experience and will be woefully unprepared to deal with the fallout that will result. Allstate does not care about their customers, their employees, or the business, only the bottom line.
Please! Nobody is safe. There is no transparency...it used to be an honor to be an Allstate employee but that went down the drain real quick...Too many chiefs and not enough Indians who have nothing to do than just sit and think of changes for frontline to execute without even knowing how it affects our customer interactions. Allstate already laid all of us in CA claims this August and moved to AZ 2 years ago. Before our layoff, Shapiro did announce layoffs in all depths. Customers beware, change to another Insurer....there are too many new employees, changes constantly and errors left and right on your claims. Different people involved in your claim and hope it's not a total loss because the fastest settlement if you are lucky....30 days. I keep going on but I think by now you have the just of the good hands way.
It’s all about the upper crust of the employees and not the employees in the trenches. I was an Allstate agent for 20 years and saw the writing on the wall in 2016.
I sold my agency and got the hell out. Tom Wilson should have been fired many years ago. He is padding his future on the coat tails of the people that built Allstate to what it is today.
I’m in the Charlotte NC MCO and was a liability adjuster. Prior to the pandemic, I acquired a new role as a total loss adjuster as the position was posted for several weeks during end of Feb thru mid-March. When I accepted, we were given work from home orders. When my manager made us aware of the “transformative growth” plan, my team was made aware that we should be safe from the layoffs as there would always be a need for a total loss adjuster. No fault of my manager, we were given the news the first week of August that all of the total loss adjuster roles were being cut and NEVER received an assessment. We are being given 60 days, after 6-8 weeks for the assessments to be reviewed, to find another internal position or take a severance package and leave. This, also, applied to the field adjuster staff. All of the Piedmont MCO (LDU, BI & Rep’d) received an assessment but the total loss adjusters did not and were just given the door. It’s so incredibly sad to see this happen from a company that I thought was pretty secure. Does anyone know why most people were given assessments but some weren’t and what the difference is? This is all so mind blowing!
In Illinois we're waiting to find out if we have jobs in claims. After forty loyaI years I had to take an assessment to see if Im qualified to keep my job. HORRIBLE!
When the economy is great people want employer health care. Not such a great idea now is it? America is the only one with this system. A car is made cheaper in Canada because they don’t need to offer health insurance to workers and don’t need to offshore jobs. Wouldn’t it be better if we had government healthcare instead of depending on our fickle employers.
All total loss staff have been eliminated in the southeast. Casualty adjusters are next. They will probably be eliminating people with highest salaries first. And it seems some leadership has already been offered positions in the new company structure, while others took the assessment with the rest of us and are part of the waiting game. Not many other positions available to apply for, and job openings at other companies are very slim right now. Such a horrible time to put thousands of people through this, not to mention losing health insurance during the biggest global pandemic of our lifetime.
A current Esurance now Allstate employee. Does anyone know why everyone is getting a new laptop in the coming weeks but have to take an assessment as part of the criteria to determine if you'll even have a job in 6 weeks?
"Can someone please explain to me, how the US Government does not get involved with a company that just paid over 4 BILLION CASH to acquire a new Insurance company. Just posted 1.2 BILLION PROFIT LAST QUARTER. And laying off thousands of employees during a pandemic... They keep sending our jobs to India and oversees. So sad......"
Easy. For 50+ years people have voted for lower taxes including the last TCJA farce which took our tax $ and basically gave it to corporations via a 40% tax cut for corporations with no strings. They could have had strings attached like no longer shifting $ or jobs offshore or requiring pensions to be fully funded or requiring companies to pay social security tax for all executive compensation (remove the cap) but no.... they were all in for their dark money donors.
On they Social Security tax...listen to this. Did you know that if they removed the cap on Social Security tax on the company side that Social Security would be solvent for another 70 + years?Currently only wages up to $137,700 are taxed at 6.5% to the company and 6.5% to the individual. If you required companies to pay the 6.5% tax on ALL compensation and anything over $137,700 is placed into the central pool, not allocated to the individual; it would help all of us little people. Simple fix.
People need to wake up an realize the Republican aren't for small government. They are for government subsidies to corporations which then largely go to the top 1%. Democrats aren't substantially better but they have bailed out the last 3 republican deficit spending mismanaged administrations (Reagan Bush Bush) and it looks like they'll have to do it again. Critical thinking skills people. http://www.crfb.org/blogs/spending-not-tax-cuts-driving-deficit
Allstate should be called Allsnake. They are a joke to the insurance industry. For they lied to all their employees either laid them off or moved them to Charlotte or other docs then once their they lie in the kick offs to their employees we will never ship your jobs overseas you will always have security here then next thing you know photo claims are in Pune India. Then everyday they keep adding more and more claims and expecting more and more and taking away more and more benefits keep getting worse more out of pocket. Next will be the PTO guaranteed. The Charlotte Doc is run by a clown from New York he’s a joke all he is about are numbers on a report does not care about the employees in the Charlotte Doc. Glen Shapario is a joke he has single handily destroyed the company just like he did at liberty mutual. The employees are the one paying the price they uprooted everyone made false promises for one thing $$$$ and investors. Allstate is a joke to work for they also cut the estimates as low as they can to screw over their customers. Last but not least the managers over the estimators don’t have a pair of balls between all of them they don’t stick up for their workers and run their employees into the ground. Great job Allsnake screwing the American worker sending jobs overseas and taking advantage of your customers. Get ready National General employee’s you guys are next since they bought you.
