Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Social Security Versus Windstream - do you really want to work here??

For those thinking of ever working for Windstream a bit of information they try to avoid mentioning.

From 2016 to 2019 Social Security increases (COLA) total 6.7%. In comparison, the vast majority of Windstream workers paychecks have only increased by 3.0% to account for inflation.
Except for the executives and their cronies of course - CEO got a 24% increase in just one year and between his contract renewal, 2 million dollar renewal 'sign-on bonus' and the potential of a 10 million additional bonus from KEIP - the CEO is likely to more than double his take home this year after driving the company into CH11. Bankruptcy is a Good Thing as the CEO likes to say and I can now understand why he thinks this way - $$$$$$$$

Now why would you ever want to go to work for a company that treats their employees in this fashion??

I worked at Windstream for 15yrs. I resigned 2.5yrs ago because I saw too many of my hard working friends being escorted off the property. I found a job making slightly more then I was making at Windstream in salary but the benefits blew windstream out of the water. I have receives 3 raises and 4 bonuses at my new company and the environment is so much better. I enjoy going to work again. Put your resume out there as the grass is WAY greener in the other side. Windstream really did become a terrible place to work. You deserve better, go get some happiness people!!!!

I agree with you. Unfortunately we are not a growth company, we are burdened
with a TDM network and no one needs or is buying POTS or DSL these days.
Based on a previous post we have been operating with a net loss of $50M a month.
We don't have a sustainable business anymore. My advised is to leave and go
work for a growth company, this isn't it!

The point was to show how poorly Windstream workers are faring in comparison to others and why potential employees should avoid applying. The worker paycheck values are dropping when taking inflation into account and in an era when most US workers are supposed to finally be seeing some gains.....windstream workers are stiffed over and over in favor of a few greedy execs. If someone is going to take over Windstream they better hurry before you have lose all the skill sets needed to keep the place running. I am ready to in a flash

Apples and oranges my friend. We are a publicly held company not a government entity. We are not required by law to meet COLA it's only a guideline.

The board here is terrible and should have walked the executives out the door. They took us from a Billion dollar company to a million dollar company and they still have jobs here.

The creditors will soon take over both the board and execs will be GONE. Re-org is going to happen soon, UNIT and WIN cannot hash it out.
