Survivor depression?

Anyone else feeling like this?

I am. Just posted my resume with a recruiter for the first time in a decade. Feeling guilty about it but I feel like there is a target on my back.

It’s just a job and Honeywell manipulates it’s employees like numbers on a spreadsheet. Keeping your paycheck shouldn’t give you PTSD, just quit. GenX is charmin soft lol.

All I know is that when they asked for volunteers, and I didn't raise my hand on that first round of layoffs, then finding myself with no veteran engineers left to brainstorm with, I definitely had "survivor depression". I could not believe I was so stupid as to miss that opportunity. However, true to form, Honeywell gave me another chance to volunteer a year later and I finally found the peace that my coworkers had found the previous year.

It is remarkable how 2-3 creative individuals, with the knowledge and ability to create and execute despite processes designed to thwart same, can make such a difference. And when gone, leave such a void for those that remain.

As far as the company goes, put your hand in a bucket of water. Then remove it. Measure the impression you made. That is how much the company misses a veteran engineer who made decent money. Your coworkers and co-colaborators will miss you very much, but they, like I did, will wise up and bolt for greener and more appreciative pastures.

I left my group to a consortium of young graduates who wander the halls in packs, and cannot make a decision alone if left by themselves in a room full of vipers. This is the perfect place for them.

A friendly piece of advice. Don't jump ship unless you absolutely have no choice. And if you do go on your own volition, ensure that you have a solid plan in place so as not to disrupt your lifestyle. I got caught up in all of the negativity and crazy-craziness, found a new job and quit. Only to be restructured out of the new job within a few weeks. Unemployment is a B–ch! And though things (at Honeyhell) were as bad as I thought any job could be, hindsight makes you realize that Honeyhell crazy is better than no paycheck at all. Hate on me if you want, but truth is truth. Good Luck My Friend

Everyone has to do the needful for themselves and their situation. The ultimate problem here is that we’ve all lost trust in management and yes, we all feel there are targets on our backs. Having your resume out there is good preparation in case the unthinkable does happen. Good for you for planning ahead.

An important point is to avoid this website. There is a lot of incorrect information on this site about Honeywell which might make you feel worse. Good luck.

Listen to that gut feeling. Read all of the other postings. Most sites, especially if at one which was acquired, will be gutted. Go while you can, and have options. Many with long years of service hang on for the 26max weeks of separation pay, and then get jobs. Double dipping is nice if it works out.
