COBRA thoughts
COBRA ends at age 65 even if you have 10 month left on COBRA. Honeywell won't warn you until it's almost too late so be sure you are signed up for medicare but then
ALSO line up your vision and dental. You will lose that too! You may think that it's only medical but I lost vision and dental as well when I turned 65 and had to scramble to make sure I didn't have a one month lapse in coverage for it. Some Dental/Vision people also have a 45 day waiting list so check them out a couple of months before your 18 months run out.
COBRA will continue for you spouse's coverage for an additional 18 months (36 Total). I still don't know why but it does. Honeywell won't tell you that so you have to dig for it on the phone but better yet use the email so you can specifically ask about getting extended COBRA coverage for your spouse. Make you copy of the emails that is on the web site.
SPOUSE will need to sign up individually so you will have a new ID and Password for the site.
CHECK/CHECK/AND RECHECK the site a couple of times a month to make sure everything is paid and the amounts are correct. Seems that more than a few times they "forget" to have the dental/vision payments in the required payment box to pay. You can't add anything so your only recourse is to use the email to document that they didn't put it on and you want to pay it. Normally they add it to the next months payment but sometimes they just sneak in another payment due on the web site. So CHECK/CHECK/AND RECHECK the Honeywell COBRA web site.
I don't know for sure if the spousal 36 month rule is for all Honeywell sites or not but you still should push on the phone but especially on email so you have proof of what they say and asking 2-4 times is sometimes necessary with them.
