India IT Support

is it just me or has anyone else noticed how inept Honeywell IT has been for the last year?

Be mad at HW, not the technicians. Cards are totally stacked against overseas IT. To learn anything about the systems they have to work India AND US business hours. US IT mgrs are spending 6-8 hours a day in conf calls, while multitasking emails. No training, poor communication, frustrated end-users - it amazes me folks from India feel compensated enough to put up with any of it.

Totally depends on your boss. If he/she is overly worried about metrics, likely much less willing to to allow time off. I have noticed, at least where I work, that we are so thin on workers my feeling is they can't afford to fire/layoff anymore or have someone who actually does work to quit. So if I want a day, I say I'm taking a day and just take it. I am older so I don't care as much.

It all depends on how the numbers are crunched into a spread sheet. You know they will do anything to make it look like cost savings, even if reality on the ground shows it isn't true.

This is how non-deserving management bonuses are granted.

I normally spend a total of 2 - 3 hours with various IT people until they transfer me to on-site Torrance IT. The on-site support knows the solution in a few minutes and have it fixed in less then 30 minutes.

I trust there are savings somewhere but not in my cases. I’m looking forward to hear where the savings are.
