I am just going to leave this here - it's a good topic: Layoffs, furloughs and outsourcing of non-essential activities

Honeywell is laying off skilled talented folks, then a few months later hiring them back on contract - with no job security, no benefits (even government-mandated ones: the now-self-employed former employee has to pay the employer share!) and – GET THIS — Honeywell offers just shy of 70% of their former base salary. And the odds of the "contractor" EVER negotiating a rate increase are slim to none.
- 1jxc: Keep the shop people? They've outsourced thousands of Phoenix Aero Engines shop people's jobs to other countries over the last 20 years. The parts then come back in to the Phoenix Distribution Center warehouse which is run by an outside company.
Let’s just keep the shop people that build the parts. Our suppliers can deliver them the details and our customers can pick up the finished product.
