Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I'm a coward

regretting the decision to work out my last few years instead of raising my hand for the package last week. Feeling pretty low. Pretty sure the package net future value actuals exceeds any bump to retirement when I consider the frozen salary. Hoping to get an individual contributor job but my director says probably not. Any chance they won't get enough volunteers and I will get another chance ?

Anybody else have stay-behind regret ?

I can't count on 4 hands the number of people that are in this limbo counting down till they hit their magic number. They just don't care anymore, some are actively sabotaging their own work out of spite. I had lab engrs tell me there's so overworked their retaliation is to charge multiple program and do little or no work. I had far too many more years to to live with myself in this state, go so I did my homework and left 4wks ago. Can't believe how much better it is - there is life after HON.

@ 1fst
Why would anyone be concerned about my coworkers?
They only are concerned about themselves. Everyone has to do what is in their own best interests

Did you think of your coworkers? You might have saved the job of someone that really needs the job.

No, you're not a coward.

My site is closing, soon, and I just gave my notice on Monday and my last day will be 9/27. Everybody has their reasons for what they do. I'm choosing to walk away from 26 weeks of Severance, you're sticking it out. I've spent over 28 years with this company, and I have no regrets with leaving.

It's not like this was the first time a package was offered.? Everyone should consider if they would accept such an offer long before they are asked. Think ahead as you may not have time to really look at all the scenarios.
Coward?? No just not thinking through fast enough then missing the boat and second guessing. Hang in there I bet you'll have another chance sooner than later.

No right or wrong way to go on this. Everyone made the best decision for themselves based on the information we had at the time. They will still offer you a package if no individual contributor role available, so you likely have lost nothing.

You're not a coward for choosing to stick it out until you're ready to leave on your terms. That takes true grit. If they choose not to keep you on, you'll get a package anyway. Always go down swinging.
