Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

wake up the AI revolution is coming

I was working several high end data projects this year before my employment was separated with out any severance. The leadership team already has several BOTs working to eliminate key strokes from employee jobs or eliminate the need for a person to run that report. In addition there is a new AI that will allow the new flat pyramid to exist. What is happening now is they are purging all the indirect costs. They will have one manager manage 20 engineering personal. One level of management and then VPs and GMs. There will be no more analysts positions, that is what the bot is for. Even your new people manager will not be technically savvy on the product you are working. He or she will be just be an HR drone.

It seems to me that Artificial Intelligence has been around this place for quite some time already. When I was still working, we called it "Leadership".

Ha ha they having invested in any machine learning tools - too expensive. So no real jobs at risk anytime soon because of AI

All of the resisters must be eliminated. Resistance is futile!!

so foolish, they were identifying key data holders to program the AI with sources of truth. It is already being used.

Algorithm schmalgorithm. You’ve got competing data sources that are riddled with mistakes as mentioned in previous post; and with inconsistent or conflicting values and nomenclature between all those sources. Makes evaluating the data more inconclusive for making solid decisions. You could build as many bots as you want, but you’d be much better off to drive standards for those systems and put some governance around data quality. As I’ve seen, most data entry into those numerous systems we use could benefit greatly from something as simple as spell checking. Do you want to find a resistor or a resister? LOL. Or how about released data in your engineering data management system called “DUMMY PART”? I wonder how many of those we sell a year?

@jfh
The bot will turn out data reports that the ignorant leaders will accept as gospel. Every data report in my field of expertise was riddled with errors in the fundamentals not created by the analyst. If you don't know your customers, or product line, or supply base, etc., thoroughly, then you have no idea if the data is correct even if it is internally consistent.

Further perpetuates the myth that a good manager can manage anything, when in fact he/she can't unless they educate themselves.

And, every credible research study shows that span of control deteriorates rapidly when the number of direct reports gets bigger than five or six.

Duh, tool work being done today is just mindless scripting connecting the Byzantine infrastructure of a conglomerate. Nothing but little Dutch boys with their finger in the dike. Put them on charge numbers and make them convince real projects that they are worth their pay like the rest of us.

Hello ToolBoy. the AI tool is a learning algorithm. they are using it to find lost data such as past due or more savings. They will be abole to ask the AI questions in plain engligh and the AI will produce the data faster and more accurately than any analyst coulde do.
