Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

The Good Old Days

If you study the history of Xerox, you will find a list of pocket stuffing CEOs, where many barely avoided jail time, a history of nepotism, especially in engineering, widespread abuse of women, sea saw layoffs and rehiring of valuable employees, the phantom account fiasco that attempted to screw over 100 employees out of their retirement, and many cases of Subject Matter Experts being screwed over for advancement because the boss decided to promote his golfing buddies. It's amazing that the company ever achieved what it did. It was successful because it developed xerography at a time when the printed page was king. It was a tough place to work, you had to fight for everything you got or brown nose your way up the ladder. It was exciting to work there, but it wasn't always a very nice place. It will slowly pass away not only because of the current gold digging management, but mainly because of the demise of the printed page. This slow death is characteristic of large companies that put all their eggs in one basket.

Now that Xerox is bosom buddies with HP, we can can sit back and watch them both race to the basement. Merging two struggling companies in a declining sector is like strapping the Titanic to the Lusitania.
