Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Bls moral

As if it’s not low enough let’s take away ALL weekend jobs. Management don’t get it keep treating us all like slaves and think that will make us work harder. Pretty sad I that a guy with 12 years in and the best he can hold is an off shift with Tuesday Wednesday off. Wonder how many more will quit HELLvue before someone realizes that the management is the problem not the crafts

People get hung up on themselves and their options of what a employee should be. We spend so much time worrying about each other and what we deserve what we should be looking at the big picture. This corporation is making a profit investors want more at a expense to our families whether your own or a coworker's we all need a paycheck to provide. We should be rallying together with our unions, which in my opinion are corrupt and need major overhaul, to stand together against corporate greed whether its protesting representatives or striking. But yet we are only worried about our own goals not the big picture. I plead all my coworkers stand together fix our unions and fight back against a system that doesn't want us to succeed in securing a better future for our children and ourselves.

If you like the pay and benefits that you get, just go in to work for your 8 hours.Use standard work wherever possible. It takes forever to do something by NS guidelines.Do what you have to do to take care of your family.

This just in..... next years NS calendar will not have weekends on it. It has been determined by the board they are obsolete, and do not fit into the top 21 plan.

I think the worst part about BLS is they cut 20% of the jobs and then force people to work overtime in order to keep productivity.

The problem I am having with these job abolishments. Is Incase no one sees it we currently have 0 floor jobs with weekends off. A long time ago is was said the double D wanted to get rid of weekend jobs. Well he has now done that we have a grand total of 7 weekend jobs. The problem isn’t the shop the problem is HIM and NE doesn’t touch him

Maybe you should remind that SGL that he came from a craft too. That's always been the problem is that they think when they take those positions they're above everyone else. But you should remind them that in a layoff that doesn't mean squat. They'll be gone when their number comes up.

They are not worried about how many quit. That’s what they want. If you quit they don’t have to pay unemployment or insurance on you or your family for a month or 2. You quit you just saved them money. As you surely know that is all they care about. We had a SGL tell us in a safety meeting the other day we are not here to fix locomotives. And that Ns does not make one dime off of us fixing locos. We make money by pulling freight. That right there shows you how ignorant the people running this company and our shop are.

Boo hoo, at least you're still working! And btw, there are men at other shops with 20 years and the best they can have is middle of the week too.
