Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

LinkedIn Learning huh?

I love how AIG is pushing this LinkedIn Learning Initiative...

I remeber when I first started I signed up for a 1 day, 3 hour, online course in the morning...provided by Salesforce and, by extention, AIG.

5 minutes later I was called in for a "sit down" discussion by my manager who informed me he won't he signing off on me taking the course because..."I don't see how Agile Scrum has anything to do with your job function.." - Middle Management

I've been learning digital skills everyday regardless...unlike most of my office's leadership.

LinkedIn Learning? F— you...

Yeah, I'm complaining...lol
At first we are discouraged and even reprimanded by management for using resources (offered to us) to help make us more well rounded...now these same managers talk about LinkedIn learning as if it's some new thing that everybody needs to get on board with...what a joke. Half these managers only have 1 thing in their newly created LinkedIn account; their employment at AIG lol.

You expect me to take any of this seriously? Most of my peers and I HAVE BEEN on LinkedIn and HAVE BEEN using LinkedIn learning, which I'm sure made a lot of people at AIG feel insecure..and now that it's a new initiative they feel cool talking about it?

  1. t.w I love LinkedIn learning but, for many of the technical courses on there, it won't do someone any good unless they already have a strong foundation in what the course is teaching.

Yes agree Post ID: @10oONG0Z-2oom . I think this is sad because it's the working employees that need to go to conferences, not management. And when management attend these conferences, they really don't share at all or if they do it's a small amount of what they learned. They empower themselves not the employees.

Most of the technical courses are outdated. Our middle management banned us from taking outside courses or going to conferences because of costs ....yet he attends conferences all the time...
