Lost Vacation Anyone?

Accrued 4 weeks vacation in 2018 for 2019. Was given 1 quarter of that vacation when rebadged to HCL. Now I have to borrow vacation time as I earn it from HCL. Where are my 3 weeks I accrued in 2018? Also very tired of receiving emails about XBS policies sent out by my own HR Dept. Really? You can’t update the mailing list? Just rubs salt in the wound every time I get one!

I don't get how you earned 4 weeks in 2018 and did not use any in 2018?
I was badged over and I earn 4 weeks per year, I have 4 weeks to use (I've already taken a few weeks) this year plus sick days and floaters

The vacation policy comments referenced by responders (i.e., no carryover, earned quarter by quarter, etc.) are true of the official Xerox policy. Is it possible/probable the GIS cores were allowed to retain their own, independent policy or policies by core?

Vacation time does not carry over...that stopped along time ago

"the vacation hours to be paid / honored are divided by quarter upon completion of that quarter"

Not quite right. Vacation is earned quarterly, and you have to work at least one day in that quarter to earn that quarter of vacation, though you can use your vacation before it's earned but have to pay it back if you separate.

Thus, if you have 4 weeks vacation, on Jan 1 you get 1 week, April 1 you get 2 weeks, July 1 you get 3 weeks, and October 1 you get 4 weeks. If you used 4 weeks of vacation in 2019 and left on September 1st, you would have to pay back the company 1 week. If you used 4 weeks of vacation in 2019 and left on October 1st, you'd be good.

Vacation rules changed, at least in my part of Xerox, at least 10 years ago where they no longer allow you to carry over vacation from one year to the next. It's "use it or lose it". So I'm not sure how you could accrue vacation from 2018 into 2019.

I suspected this was the case but wasn’t 100% certain

Also why I gave no notice and took a two week vacation before leaving
While many criticized this, in the end I was paid for all my vacation and the last full week I actually worked

If that had not worked as planned and I missed out on any unused balances, it still would have been worth it
My last 2 months have been stress free and looking forward to every day with the company I am now with

Get out

Geez what do you expect these cheap clueless dipshits to do? Of course they are going to screw you over to save money. It’s how they make cash on this whole crooked deal.

Not sure how it works everywhere, but after 20 years I have five weeks vacation. The rules changed (last year I think) where the vacation hours to be paid / honored are divided by quarter upon completion of that quarter (i.e. we’ve finished 2 quarters so I’m qualified/guaranteed 2.5 weeks). If I don’t use them all, the balance of hours is added to any severance. If I’m let go before September 30, the remaining 2.5 weeks are forfeited. The old packages would add your full unused annual vacation hours to the severance but that is no longer the case. Hope that makes sense.
