Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

The Reem is Here

Today's email attempted to soft shoe the re-org by saying it is happening and managers remaining will basically emerge as indirect strategic "people" managers so just keep working, nothing to see, you'll hardly even notice it.

There is no new jobs coming in why no body addresses that, what is final goal of top leadership? There is no efforts for more jobs coming in? These reorg won’t help if there is no real jobs

So we are faulting the engineering leadership for wanting managers to focus more on the employees? Geez. Can't win with the engineers. You will complain about everything.

Dear Colleague:
After a thorough evaluation, Aerospace Engineering leadership has decided that going forward the Tier 4 and below engineering people managers will concentrate on people management responsibilities. In order to achieve the desired end state, we are going to go through a reorganization that will result in all people managers being indirect charge positions focused on business strategy, process improvement and operational excellence through coaching, developing, recognizing and leading employees. In most cases, people managers will be responsible for a larger team of direct reports than in the current structure. In general, this does not affect the rest of the organization, however, some of you will have new managers..... blah blah blah, We will keep everyone updated as we move the this reorganization as quickly as possible. We will share details of the new organization once we've finalized everything. blah blah blah

Standing in the line for food I hear..”are you worried about the reorg? “. ... “what reorg?”... “don’t you read email?”.. “not from people I don’t recognize.. and lately that is just about everyone, did it say if we can volunteer for a package.”

One moment at honeywell.

Remember that children’s book ... Are you my boss? Are you my boss?

No good will of this (at least for us common folk).

These new people managers will do nothing but beat us day in and day out for low yield and EEI.

So this will really help JE improve his -46 survey results- NOT! I have to say its about time that the management team gets ‘to reap what they have sowed’! I think if a manager is down graded, that they should receive corresponding reduction in MIP compensation or even base as they no longer have the higher level of authority. Also, their EEI needs to be tracked as well, even though we all know this isn’t a metric anymore -WINK, WINK! -NUDGE, NUDGE. Its the Honeywell Way, when you run out of options, just re-organize. It takes 2 years for the dust to settle, or for any meaningful results to materialize, if any.

PS - Oh yea, I forgot, where’s the survey?

E&PS managers invited to a meeting on 9/10/19 announcing Reorg. Canada, US and Puerto Rico affected. Self nominations are taken into account with a Sept. 12 deadline. Only T4 and T5 managers are affected. Some will be offered new manager roles or individual contributor roles. Others will be RIF'd. "Our organization just isn't working"; complete BS.

The email was poorly written. In the same sentence, it stated, "This is not a reduction in force; however, with the business environment changes, some employees will be affected by a reduction."

I can't see how they can offer positions without posting; however, the VP stated definitively they would not be posted.

They are also not revealing the new organization. This is where they lied to us; they are simply reducing force for financials.

It was scant of details but other rumors say managers will have to decide by Friday if they want to volunteer for the transition.
