Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

When is Chesterfield (UK) closing?

Layoffs are on hold (for now...) and the RDC is still open.

Why did DXC stop the WFR?

I genuinely feel sorry for some hard working Chesterfield people, but there were a load of people who only got into jobs because they were friends with certain people or related to other people.

My sh– face manager, as soon as he found out he was out of a job he stopped replying on Skype, stopped answering emails, didn’t give any direction about what’s happening with our team, didn’t send a goodbye email, ignored emails from staff voicing their concerns about future direction.

The only plus point for us was he used to make people redundant and quite often was totally out of touch with reality. Even when he was told what he is doing is bang out of order he didn’t care. Well Karma is a b–ch. Good riddance. Hope you don’t find a job for a long time for screwing hard working people over.

Managers can’t always move people out of pools, the names come from people waaaay above them.

When my name came up even my VP wasn’t able to fight it, they canned a $250k project but still went ahead to lose me.

What managers can definitely do is give people a heads up. Base location changes are easy, it takes a day or two max and that’s with delays in Prague or wherever it is they do HR.

You have to ok move, manager signs it off, Prague give you something to sign and it’s done.

It’s amazing how much underhanded tactics play a role to benefit certain people.

"it's such a pathetic global company strategy" but fitting for a pathetic company.

Managers move their favorites out of pools all the time (one of their perks).

Its such a horrible place to work - you are told that you're in scope, and usually you don't hear anything again until the next time.

Its just tree shaking, designed to make people leave for free. When you think about it - it's such a pathetic gobal company strategy

Interesting are they allowed to change base location in the middle of WFR and with the site closing with being being WFR due to the location closing and their roles being made redundant - likely to be moved elsewhere and with a new graduate taking on the role.

Surely they would need a new / updated employment contract / written letter for a change of base location - but do big companies like DXC follow to the letter of Employment law ?

Because some people with insider help changed their base location to Chorley or other sites to avoid WFR. The rule was simple, Delivery > Chesterfield = redundancy.

You may still see people from Chesterfield still knocking about.
