Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Welcome to Raleigh

Confirming what has been said elsewhere here, it looks like all XDX in America will be in Raleigh based on townhall yesterday. Virtual workers no more. You will be in Raleigh (where most will have to compete for their own position) or gone. Just a matter of time now.

To Eyes Open: agree, must be more than XDX. But it seems XDX is fluid, and could include much more than legacy XIM now that Naresh is CTO and hasn’t announced what IT looks like (other than will be in NC). Considering what XDX acronym means, seems like Xerox.com would be a fair wager as would all driver and dev work not already outsourced. That adds >200 give or take right there. Then there is known shadow IT, and now would be the time to reel that in as well. Finally, XBS systems support could be in play.

Can anyone confirm what groups will be moved to Raleigh? The quote of 600 positions has got to be more than just XDX. I've heard GP would also be moving, but that still doesn't get you to 600 total headcount.

Anyone contemplating taking a Xerox job in Raleigh / Cary needs to consider some facts.

  1. Xerox does not respect its Webster IT staff and believes it can replace them with lower cost talent in NC. This should give pause to anyone considering a Xerox IT job, especially those in NC, as future “savings requirements” may make Raleigh the next Webster NY sooner than later. See #2
  1. The Raleigh move is part of Xerox’s efforts to streamline its operations, which it believes will help it achieve gross savings of $640 million in 2019 and $1.5 billion by 2021. Think about that for a long minute. Look at how many jobs have been axed in IT in 2018 and 2019. Do the math. You would not be moving to a safe secure job.
  1. The Raleigh move in many ways is screwing over the state of North Carolina, they just don’t know it yet. They think of Xerox as a great company, not as one on its last breath. XRX is using NC tax benefits and employee cost credits to drive down cost per employee. Understandable if sustainable but once NC sees what is happening, that salaries are not as promised, there should be a reckoning.

I sincerely doubt they will get any viable new talent in Raleigh area to apply. If they are truly talented why would they even consider working for Xerox, especially anyone needing stable employment. The only “New Talent” to apply probably can’t get a job anywhere else, just like the our senior management who have been fired from other jobs, have had discrimination lawsuits against them, or couldn’t make the cut elsewhere.

You have to reside in the Raleigh area to apply for any XDX current job postings, period!

Insane, so IT suppliers/service providers supporting Xerox US will now have to come to Webster to interact with Global Purchasing and then to Raleigh to support IT. Oh yeah SteveB, you are going to need to have a a talk w/Naresh or end up with more suppliers being added, not to mention contract issues, etc.

Does this impact the Unionized group in Webster, also? Moving roles that are unionized to Raleigh would have to be addressed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which I believe was agreed upon just before Icahn's team took over. Of course, Icahn has strong history of working well with Unions, LOL.

Remember “no more layoffs” and if you leave you won’t get your bonus. Also remind yourself you are a “brain” or “critical” so you are untouchable. Also don’t forget Xerox is becoming a tech powerhouse. Those who don’t see the sarcasm here need to wake up.

Current XDX employees will be required to apply for the jobs in Raleigh. And word is, they (EC) want new blood. Cheaper. Not sure what the number will be but I expect it will be very few current employees going to the NC.

I wonder if the Town of Webster and Monroe County are surprised by the news or if they have their heads in the sand. This has been rumored here for a long time and was well known within the company. I wonder if we will see and statements about the potential impact to the Rochester area. There aren't enough jobs in the area that pay equivalent to senior Xerox IT jobs.
