Called into HR and handed a letter from HCL that my position has been eliminated
By the time I was ‘walked’ back to my desk my belongings were in a box and I was escorted out
I’m still shaking

This is a BS post. You don't get "walked out" with your belongings packed up for you without cause. GIS was promised 60 days notice and so far no official word from HCL. I hate what is happening but I still believe that there is some integrity here. And it is in writing of course.
If your position is “eliminated” there
Won’t be 60 days notice. If you are IRIFd, you get 60 days notice.
they ate shooting for mid november for go live with wave 1 cores
so 60 day notices most likely will come sometime in september but may not happen until they see how training is progressing
This is the text verbatim from my addendum letter..
"HCL is committed to a minimum period of 6 months’ employment in your current role. HCL will provide a notification of at least 60 days prior to the end of the transition of the position/role, in addition to making the open positions within HCL being made available to you.
Should there be any conflicts, ambiguities or omissions with this addendum and/or any of the terms of the original Letter of Offer, the terms of the original Letter of Offer will prevail."
So, I've seen a lot of people comment that they haven't received any "60 day notice", which may mean they even though they are nearing the end of the 6 months, HCL may be keeping us on longer, and we are not approaching the 60 day mark yet.
Or, HCL lied about the 60 day notice..
I call bs
I think maybe the OP is still processing, or maybe has said F Xerox and doesn't want to have anything to do with this site.
notice how OP has never commented, I call this post BS
hey I'll take my bonus and severence any given day!!
from what I see and know HCL is no where near taking over, nobody there talks to each other, we send the same info to multiple people, when I say it's a disaster I am being nice!
i'm not GIS, but did get addendum letter, no teaser bonus at 6 or 12 months. The addendum did mention 60 days notice if/when position going away. I would also guess that if they wanted to tap me on shoulder and say i'm gone today w/o 60 days notice, I'd get severance pay. Pretty sure if you get 60 days notice there is no severance, but w/ 60 days notice No severance. (this is how Xerox would have done it i think) This is because 60 days notice is supposed to (in theory,) give you enough time to go find/get another job. I do agree w/ last post— i doubt HCL is gonna want to give 60 days notice to most. Not because they want to pay$ out, but because attitude and work ethics go in the toilet when you put a time stamp on your end date.
The 60 days wasnt a GIS only thing. I'm from service and our offer letters state they can terminate at any time by providing appropriate notice or pay in lieu. So they dont not to give notice and would be pretty rare for a company to even do that. Providing notice is just so they dont need to give you severance but they are not going to want people working after notice so they will terminate and give you a severance package (likely 2-8 weeks depending on service and location).
The 60 days was specific to those who received the retention bonus offer (which wasnt just GIS). Which again I doubt they would bother giving someone advance notice and would just terminate and pay you for the next 60 days.
I’m so sorry to hear you were laid off. I was laid off last September. I now have a great job that I love (more money too). So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For now, just give yourself some time to process things. When you are ready there are resources & people out there to help you. Good luck!
I am GIS, I have the addendum with 60 day notice
From what I heard the 60 day notice was only offered to GIS but not sure how accurate that is.
What core?
I don’t see any language stating 60 day notice:
- 3. Without Cause: HCL Axon Technologies Inc. may terminate your employment without cause at any time by providing you with appropriate notice or pay in lieu of notice. In such circumstances, your service history with Xerox Canada will be taken into account. Post 3 Yrs HCL Severance Policy will apply as applicable, but your service history with Xerox Canada will continue to be taken into account.
In the event of your dismissal without cause in accordance with this section, you will not be entitled to any additional notice, pay in lieu of notice, severance payments or other compensation of any kind, pursuant to the common law or otherwise, except for any amounts which may be due and remaining unpaid at the time of the termination of employment. You will be required to execute a release document in favor of the Company in order to receive any payments in excess of those required by applicable employment standards legislation, as amended or replaced.
I despise HCL and hope they all get the West Nile virus while visiting our core to steal our jobs, yet I call BS on this original post.
Curious as to what position you held and where you worked, do you feel comfortable sharing that?
hmmm, no update from the OP
They had to know this would drum up questions
Sorry to hear you were treated this way. Did you work for GIS or another group?
The 60 day notice is in the addendum to letter of offer, you got this addendum if you are eligible for the bonus
"HCL is committed to a minimum petiod of 6 months employment in your current role. HCL will provide a notification of at leadt 60 days prior to the end of the transition of the position/role"
This is on a signed legal addendum
Sorry to hear this. Can you provide more details? What kind of severance received and years of service
Why would someone post this and lie? 60 day notice and all that other verbiage was all smoke and mirrors. OP - did you get severance or anything?
Not buying it! Where did you work?
They must give 60 day notice unless they have cause to fire you
What about the 60 day notice that HCL is supposed to give when they are going to let you go?
