Mr. Lance Fritz, I hope that wherever you are has clean windows. If they're not clean, then you should probably get them cleaned by a willing staff member. Oh wait, they were probably furloughed. Do what you can to get those windows cleaned, so you can have an unobstructed view at what you're doing to this RR. I remember a town hall video you did back in Jan. 2018, and you stated very clearly how you would not be implementing PSR. You stated in that video that "PSR was not a good idea, and it only seemed to benefit the shareholders!" Mr Fritz, do you remember saying that? If not then I would recommend that you scroll through your DVL and find it. Now take a look out your windows and see all of your lies and mistakes. The biggest mistake you've made is probably in the office next to you, and his name is Mr. Jim Vena. I NEVER EVER remember Mr. Young ever making a special video apologizing to the employees about the title changing. You had an idea about making the Brazos yard and how that would be centralized yard and how it would handle the most rail cars in the system. I don't think I need to ask for an update on that, do I? How much money was already invested in that? How much money was Mr. Vena given to come aboard to implement PSR? How many people on your executive team have been furloughed? Now look out your windows again and tell me what you see. You can't see out of them can you? Now think about you're claim of transparency. How transparent do you think you are. There's an old saying about spreading b—s—. You can only spread the b—s— so thin, before people start to see right through it. You sir have failed as CEO. You approval rating on public and social media platforms is lower than I've ever seen for an active CEO. You publish your townhall videos, only to make yourself look more and more selfish. The Q and A segments are completely exhausting to some and unbelievably irritating to most. Why can't you ever answer a question honestly? Why do you sidestep the question with a long, drawn out, and sometimes incoherent answer? I really think that it's time for you to step down as CEO, and remove yourself completely from this company. You have failed this company, you have failed your employees, and you have most importantly failed the motto of "Building America". I sincerely hope you see this and read it. I hope Mr. Vena sees it as well. Mr. Vena, you sir are no better. You need to remove yourself from the company as well. You have done nothing but ruin this company even more with PSR. Myself and probably everyone else aren't stuck with a delusional image of what a railroad should be. Operational efficiency has many degrees as long as you know the variables to make adjustments to keep the outcome consistent. You're not God. It's impossible to know every variable of the operation. The UP has been involved with TWO congressional subcommittee hearings. Right along with most unions, and a few shippers. I don't recall ANYONE stating how good PSR was. The only thing that really stood out in the first hearing is Mr. Batorys' willingness to cater to the RR's. He never said that PSR was good though. I don't know if you think your employees are just ignorant, oblivious, or completely stupid. I can assure you that were not. You have or had employees that have multiple degrees, including masters degrees. Mr. Fritz, your employees are not stupid. The employees you let go aren't stupid either. You have/had employees that are very intelligent and hard working. I could very well keep this letter going but I feel it would be rather pointless. Whether you care or not, is for you to decide. The same goes for Mr. Vena. You both need to remember that actions DO speak louder than words.
I wish all my fellow RR's brothers and sisters to stand up and be heard. I strongly encourage all that have been affected to write to your Congress, expressing your concerns to them. Some of you may think that will do nothing, but you're wrong. Any letter sent to congress, or any of its ranking members must be answered. Mr. Lance Fritz and the rest of his executive team need to be removed, or investigated. An investigation is great way to get some unneeded attention. We need to stand up for ourselves, our jobs, and our futures. Good luck to all and God bless!
