Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

How is this okay?

How cruel do you have to be to make people train their own replacements? And they full well know they're training their replacements... This is just wrong on so many levels...

Training replacements has been going on for years. It's a horrible situation.

Dont train them. Your dignity should not be for sale. Don’t be afraid. A short employment break is a welcome sabbatical from that hole in the ground. Life is good on the other side.

If it helps, this is not an unusual situation. I had to deal with it before with my previous employer. At that time, I had to train my replacement over the phone. However, he was an American. Now, I get to do it again. Just hang in there and get your game plan together At least the economy is in a better position than it was the last time I was laid off.

If lil Johnny had to train his replacement, he would be sitting next to a giant douchebag for a few days

Management told us that as long as we were receiving a check from Xerox it was our duty to train our replacements. The message didn’t go over to well but to the credit of the type employees we had all complied ..and yes we were laid off ..El Segundo 2013.

Some people would appreciate a 6 months notice before termination, stay bonus, benefits, severance then several months of unemployment. I know it’s not a great situation but you essentially have a year to find a job while getting paid.

Now compare that to the people who got let go in December on the spot with just severance and had to figure out insurance/cobra ASAP while getting a few weeks of severance.
