No surprises here

The regular drumbeat of cuts has had a damaging impact on morale as staff become accustomed to the ever-present threat of losing their jobs, sources said. Co-workers regularly vanished from Slack without much, if any, explanation, sources said, with... — read more

650 Gone - Flexport is laying off around 20% of its staff.

Flexport is laying off around 20% of its staff. That's about 650 employees who are losing their jobs. Flexport says they grew too fast during the pandemic and are now "rightsizing" to cut costs. But employees say it's chaos there, with constant... — read more

CEO's leaked memo:

Shopify's mission requires your unshared attention I recently learned our offer letters and some Vault pages have been suggesting side gigs. This surprises me because it directly contradicts the countless times I've said Shopify is like a... — read more

Get that Ex-shopify title off your linkedin and resume

With all due respect the amount of inflated egos in this over-saturated job market is laughable. I toss every resume I see that says "ex-shopify." As much of a laughing stock as Ex-Oracle which you dont see anyone advertise. If you want to get... — read more

Whats up with the Ex-Shopify titles on linkedin?

Not posting this to troll but am I missing something? I feel bad for people affected by the sudden layoffs but I don't understand all the folks with "Ex-Shopify" as if its an advertisement. What makes former shopify folks so special in the current... — read more

Layoffs are done, now come PIPs

Now that we're done with layoffs (or at least I think we are, I don't have any insider info, just using logic) watch as Shopify starts we-ponizing PIPs to force people to quit or to outright fire them. This is even better than layoffs because there... — read more

Cut

I started working at Shopify over 10 years ago, when the company was still growing and seen as the new player on the scene. Today, a week before I was set to go on parental leave for our second child, I was let go along with many other. It's an... — read more

Stock price

As somebody mentioned, the stock price has jumped massively since the layoff announcement. Am I the only one who feels that something is seriously wrong with our society if hundreds of people losing their livelihoods is a reason for celebration for... — read more

Buckle up, everybody, this is going to get rough

Shopify to shrink workforce by 23% through layoffs, sale of logistics business Shopify Inc. says it will reduce 23 per cent of its workforce and sell its logistics business, another massive shakeup for the Canadian tech giant and its second round... — read more

Change is necessary

I'm glad I won't be here much longer because I'm sick of the way this company is managed. My question is how do you see this place in a few years? I am afraid that the future will not be bright if some much needed changes do not happen. It amazes... — read more

PIP survivors

I am not on PIP, but all the people I know who were, are no longer in this company. It seems that a miracle should happen here for someone to survive PIP?

Getting laid off would be a relief for me

Whatever the severance pay is, I would rather be laid off than survive, considering that I think it will only get worse here. I don't believe that anyone thinks it will get better?

Lack of true leadership

I am disgusted. Are they actually trying to blame us for everything bad that happens in this company? Can they ever take responsibility, at least partially? This indicates the lack of good leadership, without which, I'm afraid, the company will... — read more

How will it happen?

Are people already being notified? Is everybody going to know now or will they spread it out and have us worry and stress over it for who knows how long? This isn't just 50 people (not that I'm minimizing their layoffs) but we're talking thousands... — read more

We knew this was coming

After the last set of cuts, everybody should have seen this coming. Things are only getting worse, not better. I'd like to think this will be the end of it but even after the 10 percent is cut I still won't be able to relax. Maybe being laid off... — read more

Layoffs have been ongoing

It was mentioned before but I'll say it again. These layoffs have been ongoing for several months and they are much larger than most think. The latest round got media attention for some reason but it's far from the only (or even largest) round... — read more

Layoffs are happening in summer 2022

R&D, Shop, Revenue & Operations, Shipping. They're all being silently let go. Pay attention on LinkedIn when you see more people "open to work".

We are still hiring

I do not think there will be layoffs. I think the market will start to recover and things will improve for everyone. A lot of people wiht options got screwed, it's not a happy sight.

Will Shopify have layoffs on the engineering team side (this is in light of what happens as Deliverr gets acquired by Shopify - the stock price is dropping and there seems not to be any bottom)
