Seagate Breaking The Lay With Latest RIF

I work in IT and was impacted by the July 1st reduce in force. Did you know many of you were let go not due to budget cuts or reorgs, but to be replaced by cheaper, younger temps? After 6 months the temps will become employees. I am planning on suing the company, join me!

Correct. Your job can be done by a Temp because you are not as great as you thought.
While you were relaxing, skating along, and taking all the Seagate bonuses and endless vacation days, they were learning new skills that companies need.
I bet you will try a little harder at your next job to stay current and focused.

Sometimes you have take the valuable lessons that life has to offer, and then learn from them and move on. It's called growing up.

Just publicly tell your story to a tech blog or KDVR news and let them see where this is going. Seagate discriminates, fact.

Matern Law Group is an employment law firm based in San Jose, CA that maybe willing to take the case. Depending on the numbers this could be a class action lawsuit. Google them.

Please post attorney number!! I checked my local employment attorneys, none of them will take such case or charge $100+/hr that I can not afford.

I'm a woman and over 50. Not to mention Google Seagate's history of losing employment cases.

https://oklahoman.com/article/2489878/fired-seagate-workers-win-age-suit One example although dated.

They will pay to shut me up, I'm ok with that.

on what basis to sue? unless you are in a protected class, company can pretty much do what they want with you ("at-will" is surely mentioned in your employment agreement you signed the first day on the job).

unless you can prove you're a protected class (minority, religion, age, ...) AND that's the reason why you were let go, your legal case will go no where. or more precisely, it will be dismissed even if you find a lawyer willing to file.

any company is free to fire their employees and replace them with monkeys if they so want.

I moved as much as I can to Pune and Tel-Aviv. And they are not all cheaper resources as there are several Directors and managers. I was also in need of a new building and we are still expending to fit even more people. Keep up the good work and stay focused. Thanks for your professionalism.

I will be back in Pune soon.

Lawyers are usually the only winners financially when it comes to corporate lawsuits.

Good luck with trying to sue any corporation (including Seagate), unless can afford the best lawyers and unlimited legal expenses to match the company's resources, your screwed. Better to just go find a different job and move on.

Some older millennials who 10 years ago wanted to purge old people are now reaping what they sowed. No they are obsolete and replaced be new grads and suddenly it’s not right now.

You must have been one who though Seagate cared about you and would never trash you the moment you were perceived as no longer adding sufficient economic value. Welcome to reality mate.

Mate this is not news----> this is how life works. Move on and laugh while the rest of us suffer at Seagate until it closes or we are RIFd without a package.
