Office isn't technically closing by Q2 just most of the staff are going. eBECS and some others will still be there as far as I know, until they sell the site inevitably

Last week we were notified that the Sherwood Park office in Annnesley, Nottingham would be closing on the 30th June and staff were to relocate to Sheffield. This week we are informed that Sheffield is closing so where does that leave the Nottingham staff? On a park bench along with the rest of their colleagues that were WFR'd? Using Sheffield coffee shop hotspots?

Clearly the left hand of DXC, doesn't know what the right hand is doing! To fix the company the senior management should be sacked, without redundancy payments!

Dear Colleagues

The company's relentless downsizing of UK positions has now taken on a new turn. Having informed the government and unions that as many as 2150 jobs could go, to date there has been 1000+ voluntary redundancy applications. Before even the VR exercise was completed management have now announced a proposal that involves compulsory redundancies across the company and including shutting the Chesterfield Regional Delivery Centre.

This would only leave Newcastle, Erskine, Chorley and Aldershot as UK Regional Delivery Centres. Outside of the UK the only other country with a large non digital service based is the U.S. and there engineers are working a day free to save their jobs and agreeing terms and conditions reductions.

The Union will run a campaign to save Chesterfield as we have done previously; the clients are predominantly public sector and are highly sensitive accounts.

Chesterfield employs over 300 workers and the work cannot be offshored in most cases.

The Company's objective is to transfer to digital working as quickly as possible. Yet, among the voluntary redundancy applications are numerous employees with digital skills. It is not easy to work out the company's real objectives. Certainly, with such large cuts the pressures on those with jobs is clear. Many managers have expressed concerns at being able to deliver for clients. Nobody can be certain that anywhere is truly safe. If DXC colleagues who are not in a union approach you or you are talking to them please direct them to join Unite at www.unitetheunion.org/join

The Chesterfield site looks tiny compared to the Erskine and Newcastle sites. There is more than Chorley that UK work could be moved to.

They likely to accept that more work is coming their way and accept it without any new resources and possibly working overtime and during the weekend + nights.

Yes apologies. It was a 1000 a few months ago.

@ZCAfqC3-1mzl a 1000 people at Chesterfield? By my count looking at the directory, its no more than 400.

Ok, 400 is enough, but its not 1000.

If the Union revealed the closure plans, anyone got a link to a Union page or post with the details? Either that or take their email and paste it on here.

I'd be interested in reading that.

Wonder if Mikey will make an appearance in Chesterfield this week to tell his staff why he's making them redundant.....

Don't think the staff in Chorley or Newcastle will have the scope to take on the additional workload closing the Chesterfield site will bring.

Bad planning from the execs within the company and continued shortsightedness from the CEO. It's time he sold off the parts of the business he doesn't want and stop playing with peoples lives

NHS, Urenco, BAE, Met Police, SAP, IPS. Just to name a few. Also all the helpdesk and operations infrastructure. Not to mention about 1000 people. Therefore DXC's intent of closing this office is totally bewildering and this will no doubt impact customers, service, reputation and people.

Which customers do the Chesterfield site support? All anyone seems to talk about is BAE? DXC must have more customers under support.....

Again nobody knows about all / if any issues are between DXC with BAE negotiations until it's been settled, they may be on same terms, could be on a reduce service agreement or a gradule closure plan with BAE in long term moving services away (although doubt that could happen at moment).

DXC could move their staff on the BAE account to BAE offices nearby - if the employee count dips down to extent where it is prudent to move to BAE offices, close Chorley down and cut down on office empty space and costs.

The Chorley site won’t be closing anytime soon, they’ve only just agreed a new rental on the building as it’s now owned by a private landlord, it used to be located next to a BAE site but never owned by BAE, can’t see any issues with Chorley. What seems to be happening with chesterfield is they’ll be relocated to either Newcastle or Chorley. The BAE contract all seems like it’s going through with no issues so far, they were more worried about the help desk side of thing in Preston (this is owned by BAE and they want that building back)

The email going about is from the Ignite union. Basically says they’re moving deliver between Newcastle/Chorley and aim to have manor offices on skeleton staff only by September.

How do we know BAE are extending at all with same services as now or a reduce contract with DXC or perhaps a gradule abandonment of their ties up together. BAE and other companies should try to keep services like IT in house and just hire adhoc freelance, independents in when required rather than using the ITO model.

I’m sure Chesterfield is a done deal given the emails flying around today. How confident are you that BAE are exiting though as re-negotiations are underway to extend?

Chorley site is owned by BAE isn't it? I'd heard a while back that BAE wanted it back.

Balderdash, both will close. Maybe one will if the said client exits. Considering Warrington staff have just been moved to Chorley the axe could fall on Chesterfield

Also: Chorley site to close sometime before BAE contract exit.
