Lots of people firing Schlum these days. Something like two dozen in Sugar Land so far this year! People are no longer valued and with no more merit increases, I guess this is what they want to happen so they don’t have to pay severance.....

This is so true, say yes, don't argue, tick the box, you will survive despite knowing very little about how to do your job or product line knowledge.
BUT if you are unfortunate to be laid off you will have very little marketable skills to offer a new employer, this is the price for working too long with SLB and not being able to reach a retirement date of your choice.
SLB is full of brainwashed, institutionalized people devoid of individual thought or skills who will really struggle in the real world.
I know a lot of guys that are valuable but right now in the B6 and B5 ranges there are a lot of incompetent yes man. That's disappointing.
Service hands are given job-specific training and that’s all. Development training is not a priority in this game.
The vast majority are completely institutionalized without transferable skill sets. The cleaners and the lunch lady are just about the only ones with any options so to speak. Deep down, most everyone knows it but will never really admit it.
Problem is that submitting an RIR has more payback than submitting a job application because there will be either no response or a rejection.
Be honest and ask yourself, would you hire any of your coworkers or your boss or even yourself?
Firing someone is a lot cheaper than paying severance.
