If any company can purchase their markets without debt then they would be attractive. But their is little enthusiasm to purchase Frontier debt. There are few options to sell their markets to in WI. TDS is likely the only serious option,
Why would anyone want it? Would it be an asset to anyone or a boat anchor?
Windstream coming out of bankruptcy will have no debt. They need to get bigger to survive out of bankruptcy. I'd think selling off the consumer biz for 7 or 8 billion will reduce CTL debt which is what they want to do and give Windstream a chance to make it, which they won't. But CTL accomplishes their goal of reducing debt and makes Wallstreet happy.
@YYO4W7H-2oen not sell but spin off into a separate entity.. i think this makes sense.. their only profitable business is selling fiber.
"it looks like the pressure to sell the consumer side is coming from this group. https://www.spglobal.com/marketintelligence/en/news-insights/trending/bSNtnA4137ARwJxa-JrEFQ2"
"The investor, which owns a 6.2% stake in the company, believes that CenturyLink's fiber assets are "extremely undervalued" in the stock market, and it intends to talk to parties such as infrastructure funds and cable companies that may be interested in owning such assets, according to a Feb. 19 SEC filing."
So someone wants to now sell the Fiber we have also. So sell consumer market assets and then Fiber Assets. Greedy Money grabbers want to take everything and leave a husk while moving on to do it agaijn somewhere else.

The only one who might buy it is TDS at a significant discount
At this point we can only hope that they DO sell it. Maybe TDS can pick it up. Windstream may be able to purchase at a later date. Frontier won't live to see next Christmas.
Question is, who buys it? Windstream is bankrupt, Frontier isn't far behind them, Verizon and AT+T don't want it.
This is the first time I've heard them actually publicly say it. Not sure who would even want to buy it.
this shouldn't be news to anybody.
This should be interesting! Anything other than this Level3 management should be better, if they are even able to make it happen. Imagine a company that actually invested in its local network.(I won’t hold my breath)
