Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Corp Culture

I hope all the folks cut get better roles and with a company whose culture cares about their people. AIG isn't alone in screwing over their FTEs so senior managers hit cost cutting targets so they get their golden parachutes. Several senior folks have this language in their contracts. If Brian doesn't seem to care about the rest of us, it is because he doesn't, hence the comment if you don't like what's going on, leave.

I'd happily allow myself to willingly get fired if it meant i'd be able to take a few managers with me, who I know deserve it. I have a feeling a few managers in my office are in the midst of being let go (and they're not that old); one of which I feel sorry about, and one I only wish I could have played a hand in...motherf****r deserves to get burned.

The thing that urks me is that due to his/her management level, he/she will probably find a new job as a corporate middle manager somewhere else and probably f**** that team up as well. I would be much happier to see him/her get demoted to my level and work for someone to stonewall his/her career for a couple years like mine has been

I was honest in my manager review...and the very things i was honestly negative about got even worse...honestly don't really care though. If they wanna let me go, they can do whatever they feel like..they'd probably be doing me a favor

Yes many now have their resumes out and are looking. The culture here is all about the top and not about the employees doing the work. They don't care. When someone leaves they no longer get a exit interview. I think more surveys need to be done that allow an employee to voice their concerns and the things that are hidden from Middle Management and Senior Management.

It's so frustrating to me. I had such high hopes when I first got here. I even calles HR just to check on the status of an application and was told that, "..we don't have the ability to see internal applications..". Regardless of whether the representative was telling the truth, if nobody in HR can even, somewhat, assist with information regarding internal transfers (since there is no other way to raise your salary), then why should anybody believe the comany cares even a fraction about employee development and, as an extention, employee turnover.

So true and it's just another sign of management when they don't think twice about the voluntary attribution resulting from poor and out of touch leadership. It does make it easier for employees to quit because who wants to work for such clueless management teams? I have a sense that this feel of 'betrayal' is more about their inablility to keep good talent and having no control over the brain drain.

If HR was doing their job, they should take a closer look at departments that are experiencing higher % of voluntary attrition and raise a read flag to c-suite level folks. But with HR as dysfunction and inept as it is, I doub that will happen.

And I always hear specific managers complaining and making fun of the people who have quit without notice. Some even get emotional and angry about it, as if they feel "betrayed". Are they really that daft and out of touch with reality? If you're a middle level manager with multiple employees / interns quitting without notice, you should really be doing some self-reflecting on yourself and the company whom you're willingly spewing ignorance on behalf of. But hey... who am I?

Many will leave when they get their severance and some will leave before that when they get their STI
