Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

YOU get to make the choice

People forget that they create their own lives, they get to make decisions and create a solution. It seems many on here continuously "whine" and are miserable. AIG is not the only insurance company in the world, saying you can't leave because of age, is only an excuse. I know many who have gotten jobs with better pay over the age of 55. Companies look for experience. How many of you have actually gone on at least 10 interviews to form the opinion " they don't hire because of my age"? Or, how many of you just jump on the age boat because it's the easy thing to say? How many of you are the office gossip and are always "stirring" it up? And how many of you are just calm, come in, do minimal work and are content with waiting for a severance package IN CASE you are ever let go? There is a huge difference in these two types of people, YOU and only you, get to decide who you want to be.

Not to mention I get paid for 9 to 5 with an hour for lunch but I eat at my desk all the time and never leave at 5 cause they keep consolidating jobs here and your job 25 years ago is a footnote in my day. Last person to post also has some big genitles.

Post ID: @XyweUXO-3kfm just because someone posts on here during the day doesn't mean they aren't doing their job. If you retired, than you left under better circumstances and with 25 years you were at AIG when they contributed much more to 401k's for those who had more than 10 years and you have a pension, which was froze for those with less service. So you don't know what the environment is presently like

Then why are you even posting on this website grandpa? Is retirement that boring?

To the last poster, I hope you don't work on any policies because. you can't read.

If you "read" the first paragraph I wrote, it says "I worked" not " I have been working". Maybe you should stop wasting company time in here and do your job.

If you've been here for 25 years your probably over paid and will be fired soon.

To the balls guy, I know exactly what I'm talking about. I worked for AIG for almost 25 yrs so you can shut your filthy mouth. I did not say ALL employees were lazy, and I agree with you all voicing your concerns, but a lot of folks do nothing for aig, on their phones all day, standing at others desks chatting way more than a few minutes. To demand why someone is in your office is not why you get paid, do your job and wait to be riffed and if that place is stressing you, find something else. Why not look for a solution to a bad situation??

FYI I’m the one who posted the original issue re HR. Again just an old timer here. ( I’m 57 with over 20 years with AIG. ) I still accept the contract of a full weeks work for full weeks pay. I look often at jobs which is something I did not do the first 18 years with AIG. We ALL know The job is rough and NO one is safe. I have no trust fund and with several kids in college I need a job. But the point of my post was not to trash HR. I was just struck by how the culture has changed in HR. Previously HR was truly tasked to uphold high standards. Now clearly they are simply a CYA part of new AIG culture. I don’t have any animosity towards them at all. Let’s be honest if our boss said deny a claim or something we did not agree with who among us has not done it. The post was just to keep people aware of seismic shift. I would personally recommend every one read “who moved my cheese” which is a classic book about change.

Mr Big Balls here, not once did I complain about working at AIG. I'm one of the few that love the people I work for but the purpose of this site is not to sh-- on people that are scared or depressed. You can't even comprehend what some people are going through on a professional or personal level. I told the person to s--- my balls for the same reason I'm going to tell you to go f--- yourself. PS I think I do a pretty f---ing good job at work and I can leave whenever I want. Post your mother as well

I disagree with Post ID: @XyweUXO-2yvy . People aren't too lazy to go out and find a decent job. You obviously don't get it and maybe you should stay off the site because you don't know what AIG Employees have gone through and are going through. Just because people voice their concerns and issues doesn't mean they are doing a c-appy job. You would be let go from AIG if that was the issue

To mr big balls, you're showing the world, on this site, the mentality of what is left of AIG. The one stuck because they are too lazy to go find a decent job, and want to complain their way through life while getting paid. Have at it, best of luck sitting, waiting, complaining and probably doing a c-appy job.

MY CHOICE is to ignore people who pretend to give advice while actually criticizing others. Usually they do it in order to make themselves feel superior. Inferiority complexes are funny that way...

My Balls are pretty big and I'd be happy to meet you somewhere to show you. That's right you would never do that cause you don't work for AIG and your checking this site which means your a bigger pu--y than I'll ever be. PS your mother.

It's like this, who cares who comes to your office, you're either going to be laid off or your not. You should already be prepared to walk out of the door. And, to the rude person who said "S my balls", I doubt you have any, you're still stuck at AIG!

Kudos to All who get it no whiners just facts about the matter many thanks to all 🙏 Some have legitimate reasons why we can’t just walk out of this abyss for others it may be a different matter I certainly appreciate some of you stepping it up and supporting my position as I have been quite outspoken about this subject leave if you can hold on as long as possible if you are unable for whatever issues or reasons some get it others don’t thanks again folks - we have all the latitude on this site to vent to ask ‘why to ask what is going on wherever your locale in AIG Thanks

Whoever wrote the original post needs to open their eyes and not have such tunnel vision. And in reality, no you don't always get to make the choice. AIG has strung its employees along since 2008 and that is a fact.

You sound like one of those people who says “happiness is a choice” or “just get over it.” If you’re not concerned then why are you on this site. It’s not always as simple as you’re making it sound. Depression is a real illness btw. Many of us are legitimately stuck here for reasons other than age. We’re not whining; we’re using this platform as a way to vent, and to relate to other co-workers who are also being treated like absolute $&*! by this greedy, sick, corrupt company. I know that I should be doing the minimum, based on how I’m being treated, and continued impending layoffs. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right. If my name is going on it, I’m going to continue doing my job to the best of my ability. I’m going to continue choosing to do the right thing, despite my hatred for my department and this company. But I’m trying to leave on my own terms. I don’t want to give them a reason to get rid of me!

We are not whiny. We hold on because we keep thinking hoping things will improve after toughing it thru the chaos. Very stressful to kive kike that day in day out since 2008 execs keep u in dark spreading propaganda giving false hope. Before u know it 10 yrs passed. Now youre old. As for 10 interviews. The older folks cant even get in the door. And everyone is stirring the pot cause we're all worried. U come to work and person next to you is gone rifd. Like death row. It is a miserable environment. No ones killing themselves. Is that the quality workforce co wants to foster?
